Hey Guys.....Anyone making any real BIG parabolic deflectors. I can go out 6500 to 7500 feet now with these 9db omni directionals and was wondering if one would do any better.

I have gone out further without modifying my P3A

I've gone out 20 zillion meters but then my DJI3 disappeared.

Good for you but not what I asked. Where I fly, 5500 was the max pre modification as I don't push it without good video signal to reduce risk. I have gone out to 7000 with this, 13000 with fpvlr stage 1, and 18000 with stage 2. This is without losing signal at all at each level. I want an easy transport option to go about 10000 without losing signal at all which is why I was looking for a deflector.

Wouldn't it be simpler to drive closer to the place you want to photograph?

I do long range flights and filming on many occasions not accessable by foot or vehicle and also fly in areas that have a great deal of interference that higher gain antennas perform better in.

I made a pair of windsurfers, I be a thread , which u have read. I just bought a 3d printed from eBay and the first test I did was not good at all( I got a thread on that too).
I m gonna try again tomorrow and see!!

I saw that Ray. That is strange indeed. I had a friend go from around 6500 to 7500 with an Ebay Windsurfer. No idea if it was the same as yours. Let us know if you get it worked out.

Keep in mind that the higher the gain of the antenna, the more precisely it must be aimed.  Antenna orientation toward the target is critical.  You can hook a 12dBi dish up to it if you want, but it will have to be aimed within a few degrees at all time, or you will lose signal.

Yes, thank you. I remember reading that somewhere. Someone had a great graphic illustration too.

I went 4300 meters with windsurfer antenna home made no signal lost at all only. Battery is the limit now
