After a couple of weeks of wet cold weather (well, by local standards anyway, I'm not trying to compete with Seattle or Reykjavik) it got dry/warm enough to hike again after work.
It's almost winter solstice, days are running very short. So even though I have chosen a shorter loop (3 miles instead of the usual 4) I almost missed the sunset.
But not entirely: my sunset alarm went off just as I was approaching the parking lot.
I actually had enough time to put a warmer jacket on (I was hiking in shorts, a T-Shirt, and a light vest), launch, and fly to the nearby Wildwood ridge right about when the pinks started to show up.
I took a few panos from various altitudes. When the low battery warning started yelling in earnest, I still had enough juice to take a couple of on the way home,
After downloading the images to my PC and looking at them on a big screen, I was astonished at how green it became in just a couple of weeks. Gotta love SoCal!
#1. The first take, looking West. The show is about to start.
#2. Looking East. Some nice pink is coming.
#3. Peaking. Could be better, but oh well.
#4. Half-way home
#5. Last rays, just above the car. You can see the ridge to the camera's right.
Thank you for stopping by!
