Using RSC 2 for photos? Can't capture images.

There are times that I want to be using the rsc 2 to capture still images. Everything is fine if shooting video but if I try and capture a still image, nothing happens when I hit the record button. I'm using the Canon EOS R5 and all equipment is up to date on firmware. Can anyone help?
