Catching title but to me Lincoln Cathedral is the most beautiful building there is - maybe along with the cathedrals of Salisbury and Exeter.
The main building stages were between 1072 and 1280. The rather menacing west front of the Norman period was later "gothified". The east end is of a perfect blend of early decorated style.
At the end of the video there are a few shots of Lincoln Castle (housing a copy of the Magna Carta) and the Medieval Bishop's Palace (closed when I got there).

Yes, definitely.
The Kölner Dom is so dark, inside and out. It has five aisles to the light has trouble reaching the inside. Also I prefer the British gothic with its broader windows. No fan of perpendicular gothic, though.

I have to confess the last time I was there it was dark but I put that down to the scaffolding on the outside of the building. On the flip side I did enjoy plenty of Kölsch on may visits.
Absolutely spectacular footage Depp. I love the mix of different architectural designs on the cathedral. The ornate interior and stained glass windows are majestic. Once again, great choice in background music. Great job on this video.

Yes, the on-going building is a pain. In Cologne they say: once the Dom is finished the world will end...

Thanks a lot, Downtown. If it wasn't already this definitely would have to go on your list...
Merry Christmas!

hahaha. I never heard that one. I recall that once a year they had a festival where the woman get to cut the mens ties.
Yes, that would be the 11th of November. They always show that on TV and I always cringe.
Carnival is a big thing in the far west of Germany - I don't understand it myself...

Depp that was great work, you brought out the majesty of the architecture and truly a beautiful and spectacular cathedral.
Thanks a lot, Cacike47! I hope I have shown it well but you need to be there to really see it!

I was on a conference call once with some germans on that day, and all of a sudden all you could hear was screams and laughing. A biti of crashing. Then one guy came back on the phone and tried to explain what had happened. It was hilarious the first time, I later learned that they dont wear their best ties on that day.

You're very welcome Depp.
When I was stationed at the American Embassy in London I made it up to the Lincoln Cathedral on a weekend trip. However, it is on my list of must sees (again) for my England/Scotland return trip.

Well, the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, or the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona to name but two
Or in the UK, the cathedrals of Salisbury or Canterbury.
I'm with you on Salisbury. Canterbury might be among my top ten.
Hagia Sofia is not my style, neither inside nor out though certainly impressive.
Love the Sagrada but at the same time it looks so droopy...

That must've been funny. I'm glad that in my area there's no carnival except for kids...

Thanks. Sorry I missed your post...
To me Canterbury doesn't have the lovely decorated lines or rather curves and is so long and big that it's hard to take in. Impressive certainly, though.
