Hi All!

New to the forum for an unforutunate reason: I tried to update my firmware today and all attempts have failed, leaving my drone absolutely useless.

When I try on my phone via RC: it locks up at 78% and can't complete
When I try Assistant 2: it gets to 99% and fails.

I spoke to two different tech support people at DJI and all they could think to have me do is send it in.

This is absolutely absurd for a company this big and there needs to be a fix asap.

I've seen some people having the same issue the last few days -- any solves?

How long are you waiting? Some updates seem to hang, but are actually working. It just takes a while to find and replace some files and add others.

I've let it sit through a full battery charge until it died

Yessir, that is too long. Which version of Assistant 2? It should be Assistant 2 comsumer version.

Yup, that's the one I'm using. Such a bummer...if I'd read the sub about the update I would've refrained from trying. Now I'm stuck

One more thing to try. Remove any SD cards you have installed. Then try again.

I've tried with and without the SD card to no avail. Thank you so much for your help -- such a bummer. Feels like a paperweight now

Hi, SnakeyB44. Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry for the inconvenience caused. May we confirm if you have tried updating the firmware from the DJI Fly app already? If not yet, kindly perform the update using the App. If it's been done and the same error appears, we need to collect some necessary data for the investigation.
Here are the details needed:
1. Screenshot of the Upgrade Failure Report (from the DJI Assistant 2).
2. Aircraft log.
To export the logs, kindly use the DJI Assistant 2, select Log Export, and then save it. Kindly share the file through a shareable link, and please send them to us via PM for account security. We hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Yes, he writes it. RC= DJ FLY.
I have the same problem.
First update via DJI FLY. Stuck at 63% until battery dies.
Second battery, 83% and that's it. 10x new battery, it costs 83%.
DJI ASSISTANT trial : ends when downloading update at 99%.
DJI, any ideas?

Interesting.
Today I wanted to make a screen, but there is a big progress.
The download will proceed.
The upgrade stops at 44%. Several times...
Until the battery runs out.

Thanks very much for the response. As I mentioned in my original post, I did indeed use the Fly app. I'll attach a screenshot of what happens when I try on Assistant 2, but I can't export the logs because drone is in some kind of recovery mode and wont let me access them when I click logs.

VERY frustrating and would really love some insight before I just throw it in a box.

Thanks!

Considering the fact that new damaged users are constantly added, it is obvious that they are not doing anything about it.
Finally, they could stop this faulty update.

There was a reaction from ADMIN, a bit higher.
He wants, for example, a LOG from DJI ASSISTANT, but it is impossible. The program is constantly trying to update itself. Will not let in LOGS.
People write here that they are calling for support. But nobody knows anything there.
I warned many people not to update. It is winter in Europe. Few people fly now. Not much is updated.
Most of the flights are now in Ukraine. But they hack drones there, they definitely don't update.
Note: Solution from support: send the drone to China

Hello Mavic Air 2 users   (SnakeyB44 - I have the same problem and many other users too.....)

UPDATE v01.01.1200 has massive bugs! …… Firmware v01.01.1200 turns your Mavic Air 2 into a paperweight.

I've been looking at DJI's poor customer support for several days.
My Mavic Air 2 has been DEAD for days, yes exactly since the update v01.01.1200, which DJI is passing on to satisfied users as it looks untested and immature, and which now
destroys the well-functioning Mavic Air 2 drones when the firmware is executed.

And DJI shows no reaction to check the defective firmware, stop it and provide customers with assistance so that their drones do what they are supposed to do again!
Fly!

A drone that doesn't fly is just a very expensive brick.

Why is an update not correctly checked for functionality before it is passed on to customers?
(Internet download stops at 99%, App firmware update stops at 87%………….. DJI you can’t do that!)
Why isn't firmware v01.01.1200 immediately stopped for bugs that customers have been complaining about for days?
Why isn't DJI able to downgrade the Mavic Air 2 again so that the drone can be used again without problems? For other models, the previous firmware is also displayed, just not for the Mavic Air 2.

Such a massive firmware error normally has to be fixed within 24 hours!!!

I'm absolutely disappointed with DJI, ultimatum if the MA2 still doesn't work in a week then the drone will make its last flight, in the dustbin and besides, I'm done with DJI!
I will not buy any more DJI products and DJI has lost a good customer.

DJI MAVIC AIR 2 ……………….. “Up your skills”, ….yes as an expensive paperweight!

Thank you so much DJI

DD

Ps:………… I will certainly not send the scrap to any service points, fix their mistakes. I'm not a postman, NO WAY !

I’m clearly not the only one having this issue where a very expensive drone has been rendered useless due to a firmware update.

This is WILDLY not okay from a very reputable company. Please find a fix ASAP.

What makes you think they are not trying to fix it?

Besides, chances are that only a small percentage of the thousands of Air 2 drones out there are having this issue. Just be patient and they will figure it out.

I've successfully updated both, my MA2 and the remote controller to the newest firmware versions following these steps:

  • Started the DJI Fly app on my mobile phone without the controller being connected to the phone
  • After launching the app, I've first downloaded the new FW-versions on my phone
  • I've then connected the controller and turned on both, the controller and the drone
  • Then I chose Update Firmware from the start screen of the app
  • I chose View Details so I could view the update progress
  • The drone update took about 10 minutes. During the update process it restarted three times and the progress circle within the app hung at 68%
  • After the update of the drone was finished, the controller was updated as well and what took another 3-4 Minutes

I've updated the drone without the SD-card inserted.

Maybe that helps.

Cheers

You can't fly if the update is broken. The drone is trying to finish it off. However, it does not work until the battery runs out. And so on and on. And DJI helps that it's going to rip.

Isn't there local service support in Slovakia? We have Telink company (https://www.djitelink.cz/cs/content/93-servis-z-domova) in Praque, I guess there was european main service center in Netherlands as well. I understand that sending drone to China would be expensive and takes some time...

    Hey Lunado,

I'm sorry to hear, that this didn't work for you. The only difference between our update attempts seems to be, that I am using an iPhone and never tried to update my MA2 using the DJI Assistant 2 Software which never worked on my Macs.

There is no problem here, neither with hardware nor with operating errors!
FIRMWARE v01.01.1200 from DJI is defective !!!
DJI has to take care of the error, otherwise all MA2 drones will soon be scrap!
Maybe the update works for some users, but as we can read here, many users have the same problem.

    Abortion while downloading.

Not everyone is going to make exactly the same download error, is it?

    I do not understand this.

Because any other explanation is wrong and resembles the word sabotage.

In the meantime, we can think about what to do with the destroyed Mavic Air 2 drones.

Maybe we'll stack them all up and run a Caterpillar asphalt roller over them.........

.... and we'll make a nice YouTube video out of it.

....................and then we all buy new drones, of course from a different manufacturer.

Or does anyone have a funnier suggestion?

    I'm sooooooooo funny today.

Without humor, I will sum it up like this:
If DJI doesn't fix it, (and the silence indicates that - I'd like to be wrong)
and the drone is not under warranty, replacing the motherboard in the DJI service is about €320.
If you change it yourself, the price is around €200
Another option is to sell the drone for spare parts, batteries, controller, gimbal frame, GPS module and everything else is OK.
Your idea would be a great DJI revenge and guaranteed viral, but it's a waste. That way we will not achieve sustainability.

    Hey Lunado
Why do you want to replace anything on the drone or repair things on it........................ nonsense.
The drones are 100% ok............I'm absolutely sure!
The hardware of the drone has no damage.
The only thing that doesn't work is the firmware v01.01.1200.
Please read the other articles on the Mavic Air 2 firmware, the Mavic Air 2 only die because of the firmware.
Firmware v01.01.1200 is absolutely rubbish, the programmers are idiots......

OK. The drone is fine and you want to demolish it with CATT.   :-D
I did not find another solution.
    Downgrade impossible
    Reset hardware impossible
The upgrade as we know it will not complete and the drone is locked.
    DJI is silent.
Maybe I'll find out more tomorrow.

Maybe the board has been bricked, and you can't update to a new version of the firmware for some reason, but in this case it seems like you should be able to update to a new version once DJI releases a fix, hopefully very very soon.
