Hi All,

Did a flight the other day with my Mini 3 Pro and for the first time I noticed that it said 'Wide Angle Lens' in the top left hand corner of the DJI Fly App - I only have the original lens attached.

I went to take a Pano photo but a dialogue popped up that said something like, Pano feature unavailable as I have a Wide Angle Lens attached - as mentioned, I have not attached a Wide Angle Lens at all and been happily snapping pano's since I acquired the drone last year.

Where did this 'Wide Angle Lens' notification come from and why am I getting it all of a sudden - I want my pano's feature back !

I had the same problem.  I do not know what it means.  I haven't even bought a wide angle lens

The Mini 3 appears to detect the installation of the Wide Angle Lens via the current draw on the gimbal tilt motor.  In your case the firmware/app it is either too sensitive, misreading the data, or your gimbal tilt motor is drawing higher than normal current due to fault or damage.  When powered off can you manually articulate your gimbal up & down smoothly?  Any binding?

I wonder if the wind could be a factor here?

Possibly.  Using motor draw as the detection method is interesting.  I can't imagine there is all that much difference between lenses so the sensitivity must be extremely precise.

Yeah, i suspect the same

Hmm, not sure if that is the case here as the Wide Angle Lens notification appears as soon as the drone is started and it hasn't even left the ground yet so there would be no wind to detect as such.

I will check that out, however, I have not noticed any change in the free movement of the gimbal at all.

Hi, Mavic2018. Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry to read that you have encountered such errors using your DJI Mini 3 Pro. We need to verify more details to proceed. May we ask if you are using an ND filter or any accessories? If yes, kindly specify which product you are using. If possible, please share a picture of the camera for confirmation. We appreciate your understanding and support. Have a nice day.

Do you get the error if you remove your CPL filter?  If so, I'm afraid you're going to need to open a support ticket for a warranty repair/replacement.

I havent done another flight as yet, but I will try that and let you know how it goes.

Hi there. According to our engineers, since this is a third-party accessory, its performance is not guaranteed. We understand that you have been using it for some time now, but there is no assurance that it will work all the time. Just as Dirty Bird mentioned, kindly remove the filters and test if the error remains afterward. Kindly keep us updated. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.

I will attempt another flight hopefully this weekend both with and without the CPL attached, however, it doesnt change the fact that I never have had this occur previously even though the CPL filter has been attached since obtaining the Mini3 Pro.

Will report back soon, thanks again.

Did a 30 min flight today (21Jan23), I changed nothing with the configuration, same cpl filter and guess what ?  no Wide Angle Lens notifications and I could use the Pano image settings again.

Go figure

Thank you for the update. We are pleased to know that the error did not appear this time. We apologize, but as initially advised, we cannot promise the performance of this product. We understand that this may not be the very same accessory, but you may consider checking our official ND Filters for the DJI Mini 3 Pro for optimal performance. Should you have further concerns, please reach back here at DJI Forum. Keep safe.
