we encountered an issue while recording videos (4k) that are longer than ~6min (3,5GB). Even though there is no indication during recording (recording time keeps on going until it is stopped), multiple video files are saved on the SD card. File size limit seems to be exactly 3,5GB (5min53s for 4k video). That means, we are not able to create a single video file that is larger than 3,5GB (or 5min53s in 4K). When recording videos with 1080p or less (thermal), file size is still limited to 3,5GB.

We checked the format of all our SD cards. It's exFAT. So it looks like the drone always asumes it's dealing with a FAT32 SD card and therefore limiting the file size.

Is this a known issue? Will it be fixed in future firmware updates?

This is by design.  Most cameras split video at 4gb for compatibility reasons.  

My dslr does the same and cuts the video to 4g chunks

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Due to the limitation of the SD card file system and in order to protect the safety of your footage, the video will be automatically split when the size of the video reaches 4G size. This is a normal phenomenon.

you can use a video editing tool to merge the files.
