Do you know which one Izzy Swan uses?  He clips that on his had and seems to get good results.

It's the same type but from Rode.
He has a funny way of mounting it.
He seems to be getting good audio that way.

I got that feeling you might be getting one soon.

I know I won't.
Budget has all evaporated to the XA50.....
So I have to start from 0 again.
And with the current slow YT income, it does not go quickly.
Hopefully my tricks and tips channel will start adding bits to that somewhere this year.

The only reason I will get one 'too soon' is because my credits will expire in December.
So I have to use them before that.
Or if they go on sale in the DJI shop (that does not seem to happen too often unfortunately)
Probably getting the drone + controller first. And the FMC later. So I can make the most use of the credits.

It's weird how there's a wide range of reviews.    I watch some of Adam Savages live streams and he's using one and to me it sounds fine.  as he does them live I guess theres not much sound editing happening.

Perhaps get one and if you dont like it use their 14 days returns policy.

I got the FMC separately too. Although the bag is rubbish,  much cheaper than the mini 2 bag,   two you might be better getting the charging hub and extra batteries separately as you want them.

Adam uses a lav mic most of the time.
And had or hires a pro audio engineer in his team.
So... That is not a fair comparison.

That is an interesting approach. I do need a bag. Why is it rubbish? Like the build quality?

2x batt + charger + props is € 192
The FMC is € 189,-
So the bag is 'a gift' essentially.

Poor quality,  plastic zip.,  they dropped the extra handle.   At a glance they look identical but when you study it, they've really saved costs on it.

The audio guy says they usually use a lavalier. But sometimes just the DJI mic.
But they know exactly what they are doing, so that makes all the difference.

My mini2 bag does not have a handle.
But I'm not a big fan of that one either.
Still, it is better than nothing I guess.

Do they plug the lavalier into the dji wireless module?

Yes.
As I wrote, for the pros it is about the robust wireless system. Not the TX.
They feel it is too big anyway and they rather use a small lavalier or an overhead mic.

Nice nice.
I wonder if it is the same technique as I have with my XA50 that has this 'IR' mode where it seems to remove a filter that is normally in front of the sensor

This is a DSLR thats had the standard IR filter removed and replaced with an 860nm filter,   It needs a lot of light to work properly,   there are other conversion,  the most popular was 720nm,   but lately full spectrum is very popular,  especially as you can then add a external 720 or 860nm filter and have the best of both.

It states 'more sensitive to IR light'. But I don't know how they achieve this.
It is a physical switch and it sounds like a filter moves. But I will try and look in the lens.
And it also has an IR light, which is handy for pitch black environments I guess.

Looking at the spec its got an 850nm light on the front and it also says its got motor driven ND filters,   so Im going to assume there's 3 ND, a clear/empty and a clear+IR filter in there.  The NDs could also have the IR coating applied to them so when you engage IR mode it just rotates the filter to clear to let ad much light visible and not visible as possible.

Of course if you can use NDs in IR mode that theory goes out the window.

Yes, I clearly hear something moving mechanically when engaging this mode.
But it is different from the ND filter.
That makes a motorized noise, this is a click.
But I can clearly see something moving when I engage that switch 'slowly'. So it looks to be a filter moving.
The IR filter is closer to where I assume the sensor is (more to the back of the camera). The ND filters sit very close to the front if I listen carefully.

Im surprised they would have two motors for it,  but as I said it was just a guess.    In IR mode they are known as ghost hunter cameras.

They have one for the ND.
The IR seems to be mechanical.
It is a real switch. You can feel the click and see something move over the image. (edge of the filter probably)

Did you not ship it with UPS?

They sent me the shipping label and took it to my local post office, as not to get extra shipping costs (due to the water-proof case I sent at the same time still having warranty). I think they carried it on to DHL. But now I got a confirmation saying the repairing/replacement process has begun. They estimated that it will take a couple more days. But at least it got to its destination, I believe it won't take too long for it to return to me. :-)

If you turn on infrared mode during the day and you see colour then no.    My IR camera cant “see” normal light.

Btw. I got prezzo’d.  Ive got 8 pages of notifications.  A job for the morning after a walk and sunrise.

It's either B&W or Green.
And it seems to see more in the dark.
TBMK I had the IR light off yet.
Outdoor it was not really interesting, but the light was very dim. (almost getting dark) so I have to try again someday.
