This area south of Seattle is formerly agricultural, and then became undustrial/warehouse. The highway provides relatively easy access to the city, although is most often clogged with traffic. The building is part of one of my client's portfolios, and just had a new roof installed (the brown sheet metal portion), hence my visit today.  Alas, no trains today on the rails just east of the property.

Great views of the industrial area. From what you say, that highway is the main artery into-and out of- the city?

Quite the transformation from agricultural to industrial.  I'm betting that highway gets a ton of trucker traffic,  Nicely documented AeroNW.

It's a major regional artery, but not the main one. There are two interstate freeways serving the area, one that continues east from Seattle toward Boston and another that runs north to the Canadian border, and south to the Mexican border. This one is a major commuting route, so almost always full.

Thanks. The trucks are ubiquitous in the area, and the variety of sizes, shapes and colors is stunning.

Thank you. The route is nearly always full of truck traffic, then add in the commuters and you have a real slog. The interstate freeways are similar, but this is more of a local route for commerce.

Thank you. I was amazed at the difference in how things look and function in Europe when we visited last year. It was surprising when we saw a full size pickup truck on a highway in Germany, it seemed very much out of context. Here, though, large trucks and SUVs are the majority of vehicles on the roads.

My grandson (and his parents) lives on the other side of the state, ~ 6 hours drive, which always seems like going to the edge of the planet. But, flying to the east coast from here also takes 5-6 hours. I like how from Britain one could be in most any other European country in less time.

I once drove from Florida to California while switching Navy duty stations.  2,517 miles and took 38 hours driving time.  Just shows you how long the US is from East to West.

We've driven from Seattle to Southern California (in-laws still live there), it's about 1,200 miles and driving takes a couple of days. Longest longitudinal trip so far was Texas to northern California. The actual length was increased by the presence of my father in law on that trip.

That's just it.  My wife's people emigrated to the states from the Netherlands (Friesland for her dad) in the 1950s, she still has relatives there she would like to visit. My tribe came from England in the 1600s, a little harder to track down, but I'd like to take a crack at it. Fortunately, it seem to be a very small community in Devon where they left, and the records archives there seem to be very good.
