After recent firmware upgrades Im getting very underexposed pictures (almost completely black) which considering Im shooting mostly under very sunny conditions is even more odd. Panoramas and movies dont suffer from the same problem. Is this something in my settings/user caused or introduced by recent firmware upgrades (im on the latest version), as I have never had these issues before. Thanks for the help

You've probably accidentally set the exposure compensation to underexpose by 2 or 3 stops.
If you post that example image (you'd probably have to upload to dropbox or similar and post a link).
I could check for you.

does embedding like this work as well, or need it as an attachment/original?

No ... it doesn't work.
The forum shrinks the original image and strips the metadata from it.

Look down in the bottom right corner of the screen and see the number that's below EV.
I suspect you've dialled that back to -3.0 or something close.
If I'm right, you need to dial that back to EV 0 or close to that.

Is the information you are looking for not in the opening post? I.e. the picture there shows Shutter speed, F-number etc?
The weird thing is that the F-stop is F/0 and no clue why it would be like that.

The EXIF you provided from from IrfanView is strange, with f-stop 0. And according to the data your exposure bias was 0. But the photo is several stops underexposed. Seems like something is wrong with the camera.

odd indeed right. However panorama and movies come out fine hence I think its software not hardware. I reset all camera setting but I wouldn't even know how I could set them in this way. Its also something that never was an issue until the last 4-5 weeks when I upgraded to the latest firmwares. I am a bit at a loss here

It's not .. it shows only a fraction of the metadata and has obvious nonsense values.
That's why I asked to see the original, full-sized image file.
I explained how to in my first post.

Any chance of that happening?

ISO 100 and a shutter speed of 1/6400 second will result in dark images quite often unless the sunshine is extremely bright.

Yes true, I'm also running a ND16 filter on the camera as Im in the middle of the desert which is usually very bright. With the filter movies and panorama's come out looking fine (but the camera isnt shooting those in ISO 100 - /1/6400 for some reason)

The ND16 filter isn't doing you any favours for shooting stills.
It stops 94% of the light and only lets 6% get through to the sensor.
Unless you have a particular reason to force a slower shutter speed, it's normally not a good idea to use ND filters when shooting stills.

Here is the EXIF - Seems the issue is ExposureMode being Manual? I have all on default/auto hence not sure why it would say manual there, does the ND16 force that? Seems illogical.
