I've found the camera will easily overexpose. I use a Polarizer filter (only) and so far, it's been enough. Watch your histogram - I can't see much regarding the exposure on my ipad, so the histogram has to be my meter. Also, keep in mind that the camera will utilize a slow shutter speed if needed - keep an eye on your information as you're shooting. A 30th may be ok for video, but it's not OK for stills. Usually.

you definitely want nd filters if u want descent videos on p3
remember double the frame rate, thats the shutter speed you want.
so on a bright sunny day u may need nd16 or nd 8
if you want a polarizer then i would look at polar pro professional that is nd and polarizer in one
hope this helped

Personally I shoot in all manual mode... Pick the appropriate White Balance,  LOG color profile, -2 Sharpness, -3 Contrast, -2 Saturation... leaves me the most options when color grading footage in post I find. As to the ND filters, yes they can be very useful for acting like an adjustable aperture since the one on the Phantom 3 camera is fixed @ f2.8. This way you can decrease the amount of light hitting the sensor and use a longer exposure time (generally you aim for 2x the frame rate as mentioned above). This will give more motion blur to your footage and reduce some of the jello inherent in this kind of filming. If you want very smooth looking footage on a bright sunny day ND16 is a good starting point, but you may find an ND32 is even better.

hey,

I think the DJI phantom 3 cam have already a ND filter right ?

otherwise i rec an Manual mode. try to keep ISO 100 and a shutter speed juste 2X  your FPS shoot ( 30 fps = 1/60  60 fps=120 )
if your shutter speed was below it's gonna be blur and if is above it's gonna be "jerky"

use histogram tool for supervise your exposition

I shoot video in manual mode mostly, and with ND filters. You just need to play around with the settings for a while. And as mentioned above, frame rate and shutter speed are important. If you are not planning to do any post-processing, then auto mode is the best choice.
Still pics i shoot in both jpg and raw format. I do this with my DSLR's also, raw format gives me more freedom to work with the pictures when needed.
