Personally I shoot in all manual mode... Pick the appropriate White Balance, LOG color profile, -2 Sharpness, -3 Contrast, -2 Saturation... leaves me the most options when color grading footage in post I find. As to the ND filters, yes they can be very useful for acting like an adjustable aperture since the one on the Phantom 3 camera is fixed @ f2.8. This way you can decrease the amount of light hitting the sensor and use a longer exposure time (generally you aim for 2x the frame rate as mentioned above). This will give more motion blur to your footage and reduce some of the jello inherent in this kind of filming. If you want very smooth looking footage on a bright sunny day ND16 is a good starting point, but you may find an ND32 is even better. |
