It's the indoor swimming pool.  I guess the diving boards are at the higher end.

You're very welcome Mr. B.

The Mayenne river looks like it would be an interesting place to take river cruises.

It is. We've taken a one-day cruise, out and back from Chateau Gontier with onboard dining.

Looks like a really nice set-up.  I'll have to keep that in mind when I do my swing through France.  Currently looking at spending 2-3 weeks in France.

I'm excited as I've mapped out what I want to see.  Now I have to decided how much time I need in each location.  My plan is to fly over commercially and then rent a car. I have a valid International Driver's Permit so I hope it is recognized in France.

Here's what I found:

If you are a temporary visitor to France (less than 90 days,) you may drive with a valid U.S. driver's license during this period only. In addition to having your U.S. driver's license, you must carry an International Driving Permit or attach a French translation to your U.S. driver's license.

Sounds like you're OK.
And they drive on the right, just like you

BUT!  Be aware of the Priorité à Droite.  Don't know what the law is in the States, but in some (random) areas of France, traffic emerging from a side street has priority over traffic coming from its left.
It's a crazy situation, and some of them just zoom out without even a glance, so be aware.

I first saw that place about seven years ago, and we passed through again during our trip last November.

Through the archives?  Yes, that reminded me. We called through there on our way home from the November 2022 trip.

Good to know my International Driver's Permit is good.  Thanks for the info.  I was not aware of Priorité à Droite so now I'm forewarned.

They honestly do not even glance to their left, the worst ones. Suicidal.  You can drive through one village, where everything is normal, then in the next village the rule applies.  At the discretion of the local mayor.  Crazy!  One village near us decided to introduce the rule - even put up warning panels at every entrance to the village.  Followed by a spate of crashes.  Add to that the little 2-stroke cars you can drive without a licence......max speed 50Kph.  Insanity.

That's definitely a recipe for disaster.  I need to be super cautious then.

Thanks again for the heads up.  I shouldn't have a problem recognizing that sign.  It reminds me of a snake warning - Red touch yellow, kills a fellow. Red touch black, venom lack.  An old saying to quickly tell a venomous coral snake from a non-venomous milksnake or scarletsnake.  So since that sign has red touching yellow it should be a quick reminder for me.

A good reminder.  Only grass-snakes in that area though
