I've been using the Steadicam Merlin for a quite some time and got good use out of it. Once deciding on the Ronin M I wondered how I could mount it to my arm without spending a bunch of money.... BAM! When you take off the grip from the handle there is a 5/8 hole. I purchased a 5/8 stud for my Manfrotto superclamp, clamped it to the Steadicam arm so that there was around a 90 degree angle from the stud to the ground. slid the Ronin on and attach a thick rubberband to keep the ronin snug against the arm.

It does replace it but technically they don't even make an adaptor for the Merlin/Pilot arm. Thats what they told me on Vimeo a while back. That adaptor is for the more heavy duty arm. I understand why they used the heavy duty arm, since the original Ronin was so heavy, but the Ronin-M works perfectly on my arm.

OK I see. Where did you find the 5/8 stud? I can't seem to find one for the superclamp anywhere.
