Now and then the wind blows from the south east then the smoke gets to us but no flames - very far away

Troublesome enough. Will it burn out naturally, or will the fire service have to contain it?

Great shots Droffarc.    That's a fairly large fire.  Hopefully, fire services can contain it before long.

Hi, thanks Downtown, looking this morning like it may have been contained, but if the wind comes up again it may flare and spread - the forecast is 10m/sec and 25Deg C

They used helicopters to drop water and fire fighters to beat the flames.

No easy job.  There are often fires on the moors above us in the summer - usually started by ignorant picnickers. Burns off acres of heather and peat, causes pollution and a major headache for the fire services.

When the wind blows in our direction the fine ash comes in through the windows

so I am shutting my computer down to limit the ash ( it is not an apple)

A drone is useful for doing the the dusting - and Ho(o)vering

Thats a big fire.  Are they trying to put it out?

Was watching the news last evening and I see where a Russian Navy frigate is visiting Cape Town prior to conducting joint exercises with military personnel from China and South Africa.  I didn't realize SA had such close ties to those 2 countries.

We didnt used to but nowadays.......      not that we have much of a navy

Hapily the fire is out. I have no idea as to the damage because it is behind the hill and I cannot get there to see (too windy for drone )
