They look like they are quite well engineered to help protect the camera.  Probably weigh next to nothing.  

I have started to make one in PET (plastic bottle). It's strong and light.



I designed it "flat" then used hotgun to bend it so that it touches the bottom plate and shouldn't block the camera field of view.

I finished my camera protection. And it works really well.

• Barely visible when camera is tilted full down (as we already can see the avata's frame!)
• Unvisible in flight even when camera is tilted up.
  

Finally I prefer this light (7g) 3D printed solution as it may break during a shock rather than CNC aluminium protections which will never break but may destroy the frame instead...

• Printed with PET filament
• Bended with hotgun (when not in place to prevent destroying the camera...)
• fixed with 10mm long M2 screws
  

Just an update after a quite big crash (battery ejection after frontal crash on the ground).

I can say that it works as expected. protection has broken but no wear on the drone itself ! Just needed to reprint the protection !

It's simply working sooo well !
