Pilot 2 V9.0.5.39 from the RC Plus.

M300 (Smart Controller Enterprise)

Johnnokomis you're a saint! I'm able to launch DJI Pilot 2 on my Mac via Android Studio thanks to your posts and apk links. I can't thank you enough for providing these resources to the community.

As soon as I enter Flight Route, the screen that would normally display the basemap is greyed out, and I get the occasional crash every once in a while too. Just curious, have you figured out a way past these issues to actually use the basemap to plan missions?

What are your parameters in Android Studio? I never got it to run there.

I just followed the steps in the "Create and manage virtual devices" article from Android Studio - I'd post the link here but was blocked.

In the wizard, I chose the Pixel Tablet to get a larger screen to work with and then chose to run system image "Q" (Android 10) to avoid the incompatibility issues that were highlighted earlier in this thread.

Once you have the emulated tablet running, you can simply drag in the apk file to install it to the virtual device.
Aside from that I haven't done much tinkering with more advanced settings.

Nevermind, turns out the basemap was there all along, just hidden by the symbol in the bottom left corner.

My main phone is running Android 12 and still won't open the app for longer than a few seconds. I have my old phone still on Android 8 and I've had Pilot 2 V6.1.1.1 installed on it for a while and it has ran fine. Mission planning and all. Out of curiosity I just updated it to the newer V9 APK and on that same device it is now crashing when I open the camera view inside the app. So DJI compatibility changes with different versions of Pilot 2.

Do you have any recommendation on which tablet and Android version to use the latest APK on? Or any recommendation of APK Version and android version that works? Thanks,

Samsung's have the best luck so far. As long as their not updated... I've used several slightly older versions of Pilot 2 on a Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro running Android 13 even. About a month ago when it received the Android 14 update Pilot 2 stopped working. Even with the latest APK it won't even get to the boot up logo before crashing. Android 12 on any Galaxy Tab should work fine.

As I have described in Post #58 not all functions work on a Galaxy Tab S6 running Android 12. So not any Galaxy Tab in my experience, but maybe I did something wrong.

It'll make a big difference on which APK you have installed. I have a phone running Android 8 and everything worked perfect on an older Pilot 2. I updated APKs and flight planning no longer worked. DJI is one of the worst about giving details in their changelogs when there's an update. That's for all of their products. So it's hard to know what all has actually changed from version to version. One thing is clear though, the file size of the APK gets larger and larger with each update.

For example, the M3E has it's own dedicated APK builds. So why does it have so many references and lines of code for a Phantom 4 and Matrice drones? Why does it reference White balance or active track when those features have never existed? The app is very poorly optimized and full of useless bloat.

Would it be possible to do this with the Phantom 4RTK as well? We bought the M300 RTK and D-RTK2, but it seems that we can’t use the D-RTK2 station as a rover. To seize this opportunity, we need to buy the Phantom 4RTK RC, which is strange. It would be great to install the APK on a second-hand phone to use all the functionality of the D-RTK2 that DJI declares.

Maybe it's different for the P4RTK, but with the M3E and M300/350's just the RC won't be enough to connect to the D-RTK2. The drone connects to the base and acts as a middle man with the RC. Even if it was as simple as installing the APK, the D-RTK2 as a rover will give very poor results. Using it as a base on a known coordinate has issues already. So using it as a rover will be far worse. Best bet is to return your D-RTK2 if you still can and get something respectable. An Emlid RS2, RS2+ or RS3 will all be cheaper, provide survey grade results and can be a base and rover if you have an NTRIP provider in your area.

It is definitely different for the P4RTK, see the link at 11:33 www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0eKPL9mrJI and I thought I'd check that  first. This doesn't seem to be a very good idea. Cheers
