Anyone know if the M3T thermal images are compatible with FLIR Thermal Studio? Curious before I invest the money in the software. I've read on a few other forums DJI's RJPG's were encrypted and only usable with their Thermal Analysis tool. However, some have used 3rd party software convert the file types. I contacted FLIR for info, but they don't have a clue. Second, I contacted DJI Support and am waiting for a reply...

For those who would like to know, I downloaded the FLIR Thermal Studio Starter (their free version) and opened a thermal image from the M3T. FLIR's software would NOT read the radiometric data from the image. Next, I opened the same image in DJI Thermal Analysis 3.0 and there is was. I guess DJI's radiometric data is encrypted? Maybe someone from DJI will see this and explain...

Hello! It's not encrypted but differently encoded...same as H20T.

So you can or convert it yourself or buy a software / script or use online service if you need Flir compatibility...or use DJI thermal soft which is basic.

Are you doing Level 1 certification? Maybe easier to rent a Flir :-)

Thank you! Yessir, it's the Infrared Training Center's Level 1 sUAS Thermography course. I've thought about renting a FLIR, but since this is an sUAS specific course and I'm using the M3T, I need to learn with what I've got. Plus, the wife would probably kill me since I just bought the M3T.

I'm not absolutely certain where I'm going yet. I'll be retiring from my present career in the next month and relocating to another state [due to my wife's job]. Once I know where we're moving, I'll see what's available in the area. Haven't decided whether I want to work for myself or someone else [to gain experience].

I just completed Infrared Training Center's Level 1 sUAS Thermography course. Quite an in-depth course and I highly recommend.

Does the DJI Thermal Tool 3 allow you to adjust the Span? If not, see if changing palettes helps. From what I've seen of DJI's tool, it's very basic. Try using FLIR's tool, if you have a way to convert the file. I don't have my Windows laptop to check myself right now.

Best guess from my thermal experience is it is made by iray. It’s pretty top-notch; even sporting the newest small form factor of only 12nm process (each pixel is smaller/more detail).

They even call the nuc process (pronounced ’NUKE’) “ffc” just like iray does and has all the same color palletes and missing the red hot one… just like iray also. And prior to tuning the thermal, the imagery is also sorta washed out & lower contrast compared to something absolute too-notch.

FYI: FLIR stuff isn't very good. They were simply the first in the biz, but have since floated on their lucrative contracts for decades with no innovation... just like Colt & Xerox to name a couple. The BEST thermals out there right now have a BAE microbolometer.

I tested, it converts the thermal images to a format, that is supported by FLIR. But looks like, that the FLIR studio shows wrong temperatures. I compared it with DJI thermal analysis tool. Could anyone to test it with your thermal images? Do you have the same issue?
