Does anyone know how to get a white background for this vertical short I made? I'm editing in Davinchi Resolve 18

Do you mean the side bars as you filmed in portrait mode.

Yes. Davinchi automatically makes them black

Is it Davinchi or the sky pixel player?

Could it be possible to make another video layer on another video track, above the main video itself by having a white border on both sides of the picture and a green center, then chromakeying the green area away so the main video shows under the border layer, between the white borders? While not being a background in the true sense of the word, rendering them together that way could create a similar end result on the video. Nice video btw

I thought about that, but I think there is an easier way that I haven't discovered in the software yet.

Could be, I myself still have a lot to learn from the software.

Right but when you export it and play it back locally is it in the correct format,   For example if I start a project thats normal 4k resolution and add a vertical clip the editor will add the bars,   if I want it to be portrait I start a project in that resolution and then import my clips.    Then the export plays back just like the original,   then it depends where you host it to how it places,  for example YouTube had a vertical player.

ok, that helps a little, but I'm still not fully understanding for some reason.

I imported my vertical clips into the editor (Davinchi) and it automatically uses black colored bars. I want these to be white to look better on skypixel.

If you're not exporting in vertical mode then just make a white image the same resolution as your output and drag that in under the mp4.

So this is kind of similar to the solution I suggested, but with the layer actually being on the background and no need to chromakey? Or did I misunderstand something? Seems to solve the problem, and in a more efficient way than mine would.

Yes very similar indeed.    Im not sure how to do chromakey so this seemed really simple.

Are you using DaVinci Resolve? If so, here's a quick tutorial on chromakeying:

I do think you can replace the green screen usage by creating a computer image that has chroma green sections for the areas you want to remove.

I reinstalled it recently,  but didnt spend too much time getting back into,   I ended u going back to FCPX as its so fast.

Im not sure if this would work though as the black you'd want to replace is a void rather than a clip.

Could be, haven't tried this myself so I could be wrong. And overall, even if it did work, I do think your solution is less complicated.
