I'm having an issue with getting the auto focus to work at all the focal lengths of the new DJI 17-28mm zoom lens on the Ronin 4D.
When I set the lens to 17mm and auto calibrate, AF works great at the 17mm focal length, but as soon as I switch to any other focal length the auto focus and manual focus are off.


Is anyone having issues with this new lens? I've updated the camera to the latest firmware and still have this issue.

I have to do automatic calibration every time I change the focal length of the 17-28.
Any solution?

I read in another thread that the dji dl 50 mm lens does not need autocalibration. It is not the case with the 17-28 lens, I have to do the calibration every time for each focal length otherwise the autofocus does not work and the mapping with Lidar does not communicate with the lens. Does anyone have a different behavior with this lens?

not for me, everything updated and will only autofocus at one focal length

In my case the last firmware available to update is 1.04.0303 dated 2023-04-23.
In any case it doesn't solved the issue.

Same issue here. Pretty frustrating for the run and gun style shooting that the 4D is otherwise perfect for. At least give us an option to shortcut the calibration process until DJI fixes the issue.

Weirdly I shoot with a buddy a lot that has a 4D as well on all the same firmware and he doesn’t have the calibration issue.

Hello, after doing an online chat with DJI this is the fix they provided me:
"Enter the menu of the DJI Ronin 4D High-Bright Main Monitor, and set “Lens Calibration Information” to “NA” on the “Lens - Calibration” page to use DJI Ronin 4D without calibration."
I asked for clarification, they said to not use auto calibration or manual and to always select NA and the issue should be "resolved".

Might not be the best answer but at least it's something.
