Hi everyone,

I have not used my drone in 3 years and all 3 batteries do not turn on or even charge. I've tried charging them for 24 hours and even that doesn't work.  Are my batteries blown? Is there a trick to wake them up from their perpetual sleep mode?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Patrice

It's most likely that the batteries have died and you'll need a replacement.

It is probable that there is 'chip' of some sort (gas gauge?) on the battery's contol board that switches to open circuit if the battery's voltage gets too low, as is likely to have happened in this instance.
Once that has happened it takes 'specialised' equipment and software to switch the chip back on. Besides the cells themselve are probably knackered.

Hi, Patrice. Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the inconvenience. How did you charge the batteries? Were there any lights when you charged them?

Hi, no there are no lights at all on all 3 batteries. Even after connecting to the charger for hours.

Is it possible the charger itself is defective? The USB port doesnt generate any power so perhaps thats the issue?

You may change a charger or cable to test it again. If batteries do not respond after doing that. You are advised to change new batteries.

The batteries do have a chip in them, if the voltage drops to low the chip basically makes the battery unusable, I know from watching videos of people trying to replace cells in their Mavic batteries, they had to keep a constant source of power on the chip to keep it from shutting the battery down.
They still sell Mavic 2 batteries, and I wouldn't buy them from anyone else but DJI.

This is the downside of corporate drones, build your own and you can always get new batteries, you just won't have the DJI features.

There is a way to wake them up, look up "waking up mavic 2 batteries" and " Mavic 2 Battery Won't Charge | Easy Fix" on youtube... I'll post another reply with a link, I'll seperate the replies because I dont know if the commies wont block a link.

Hi there. Sorry about the inconvenience. Can you please try the steps below:
① Ensure that the charging temperature range for the intelligent flight battery is within the required range;
② Ensure that an official charging cable and power adapter are provided and that the external power supply is normal.
③ Check the battery LED status, comparing to the battery LED status to confirm if the battery protection information is triggered by abnormal charging.
④ If possible, please replace the battery to see if the charger is working normally.
⑤ Please replace the charger if possible.
Please keep me posted. Have a great day ahead.

Hi All. I have a similar issue, have not used my Mavic Pro in years and am learning (the hard way) about batteries. One of my four batteries is just dead, but the other three light up, full green circle, for a few seconds then go out. I can't power the drone on using any of them, wondering if the brief green circle is a glimmer of hope. I've found plenty of info on flashing lights, but have yet to find anything about lights that come on then go off. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out and we're deeply sorry for the trouble that this has caused. Please try to discharge the battery that experiences an issue until it goes to completely 0%. After that, recharge or leave the battery on the charger until it is fully charged then check if the issue persists. Please keep us posted.

Good afternoon, dear forum users and administrators. i faced a similar problem as described in this thread. i haven't used Mavic Pro for 2 years, but now, fortunately, two lights on the battery are on and one is blinking. charging is also happening. But what should I do now to extend the life?  should I fully charge and discharge, or should I fully charge and let them automatically discharge to 40-60%? and what should I do with the remote controler, repeat the same steps? thanks for any help and have a nice day, gentlemen!

Charge them fully. If you are not going to fly shortly, let the intelligent part take over. If not using, charge them fully and let discharge by themselves every month or so.

And one more thing: does it matter where I store the batteries? usually 2 are stored in the case and one in the drone itself, is this safe enough, and will they be able to discharge at the same level on their own? is it better to store them in Mavic, or away from it?
huge thx!

The remote needs no special care, it's more like your cordless drill, always ready. The best thing you can do is to fly at least once a week.

I keep mine in the charging hub(turned off, of course) and zero issues in over two years.

There is something a little strange going on. I have my original Mavic 2 batteries, which hold a charge for months with no problem, but when I purchased another "newer" battery, if I don't keep an eye on it and it goes low, it will not allow me to charge it...I have purchased 2 "newer" batteries and it has happened to both of them....I have attempted to use the de-bugging board as mentioned on YouTube, but no luck...This has also happened to my Phantom 4. I purchased one of the "newer' batteries and the same thing happened...I hate to say it, but I think the "newer'  batteries may have some sort of kill switch built in for good or bad, but only one party benefits from this....

DJI Smart batteries have a low discharge current from the smart battery electronics. The batteries run down to zero if left in storage. The recommendation from DJI is to charge them every 3 months if you intend to leave in storage. Sorry to say it but your batteries are now destroyed and the chemistry has broken down.

Apparently these batteries have a crazy fast self discharge rate, especially for Lithium Ion.  I too have not used my drone for 3 years, and guess what, exactly the same issue. If this is a known issue, why doesn't DJI take them back and refurbish them with updated electronics with a slower self discharge rate.  Replacing the three nearly new batteries is not a low cost thing. Ouch!  At least send us a credit of something.  Tell me the new batteries have a much slower self discharge rate (like 2% / month)?

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out and we're deeply sorry for the trouble. Can you please confirm what specific DJI product are you using? Kindly try to leave the battery on the charger for approximately 2-3 hours or more for each and check if there are some changes. Please note that we can only consider a warranty repair/replacement for a product that is within the warranty period. We appreciate your understanding.

The drone is a Platinum Pro M1X model. The three batteries are model no: FBI-3830mAh-11.4V  There is no activity on any of the three after 24hrs of charger connection.

I would assume that the warranty period is shorter than the self destruct period, or this would not be a problem?
