I got this error message a couple times this past weekend.
Flight control status error
Retry FocusTrack
I wasn't using focus track. I was flying out in a straight line.
Anyone know what that was all about?
Both app and drone have latest firmware installed.

Also what was weird was it limited me to 98ft altitude 209 ft down range. I just figured I reset my system to beginner or something. Finally got it to go back to my regular 396ft altitude limit. I'm also wondering if it was a network hiccup that didnt log me in to DJI account right away..

without downloading the data.. here is a general idea of the beginning of my flight. All went well after this.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the trouble. The reason why you are limited to 98ft (30m) altitude and 50m distance is that you are not logged into the DJI Fly app account. Can you please try to have a test flight to a different location? Please make sure to log in first on the DJI Fly app then check if the issue persists. In addition, may I please ask what remote controller are you using? Are you using the DJI RC/RC Pro or the standard remote controller (Rc-N1)? Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Here is the text log.   It ended as a semi normal flight. I was flying up a mountain, elevation shows but I maintained below 400 AGL.

The controller used was a RC-N1 and somehow was logged out of DJI at the beginning of the flight and put back into Beginner mode.  But the flight control error is what I am curious about.  It showed up a few times.

All looks normal in your log, so cannot find or understand the message " Flight control status error. Retry FocusTrack."

Question : did you get a prompt to enter a power saving RTH ? (the second RTH...)

The flight control status error happened twice, I think, just before the time I got out of beginner flight - I am thinking it finally logged me in to DJI -

Return to home did start automatically - second time - due to low battery.  I stopped it and returned to home manually.

Wow   what a great open area to fly your drone!  

Flight control status error  3x in the log.
Don`t think it has a link to the beginner mode.
1e started already in beginner mode after being 35 seconds in that mode.
3e message in N mode.
First RTH after countdown started, but cancelled by you and started again by the RTH button on the controller.
Second RTH done by your pressing the button.

I was interested if in your RTH the battery saving method was used by the app, see the manual for this.
Flying high and far from HPO drone will autimatically descend, this after a prompt on the screen.

If I understand this correctly.  I had everything set at default on the controller.  When I started it up, apparently I wasn't logged into DJI yet so it started off in Beginner mode.  I didnt realize that until I was out about 200 ft.  I played with the controller for a little bit trying to set the altitude back to 396 ft.  Took me a couple tries, and I think sometime in that process I was able to log into DJI.  I will have to look closer at that screen on startup from now on.   
I admit, I was BVLOS, which I rarely do. I was wanting to see just how high that mountain peak was ASL.  I was at 4200ft ASL at home point.  I think I ascended, adjusting the height in the fly app... but the limit is 1600 ft.  At that point I was able to judge by the ground that I was about 350ft AGL which made the peak somewhere around the 6000 ft mark, which coincides with the information I had,  Basically using this as an education flight to see if I could judge distances AGL.  
35% battery will automatically initiate a RTH. I can cancel that.  Which I did.
When the battery senses that it has just enough power to make it back to home point it starts a Low battery RTH which I can't cancel.   I can, however steer the drone to a safe place for landing,   
On this flight, I believe that low battery RTH started at 5% battery?  I was already pretty close to the homepoint and let it land in the palm of my hand.  
At this point, I am guessing nothing to worry about.  But those flight control status error got be bugged.  I dont know if it was my accidentally touching screen to initiate focus track and that's what caused it.. or something else.  Probably operator error.

Hi Mark,

No worries about BVLOS, not here to judje other remote pilots. (i will do if flight starts at mid runway at JFK  :-)  )

First Smart battery requires RTH at 41% batt, distance out 7852 feet.
RTH cancelled, flying back to home....
Second call at 35%, distance out 2625 feet.
RTH cancelled.
Third RTH initiated by you with 22% batt, distance out 158 feet.
RTH into Autolanding wich was cancelled.

Nice flight!

AFAIK the cirtical low battery landing (wich cannot be cancelled) - 10% batt level for a Air2S

Low battery RTH can start at various batt level values, depending distance out and fly height. (as seen in your log)

Touhing the screen can do buggy thinks...flying in active track mnot knowing this....
So mayby this focus error bc touching the screen.
