Hi (I hope i got to the right subforum for this topic...)

I built a DIY landing pad for my Mavic 3. I built it out of 2.5mm cardboard that was laying around. Its about 60x60cm and can be folded down to 30x30. (I know thats quite big but when size does matter i just land/start from my hand)
Cardboard isn't ideal because of moisture but i can live with that because the drone isn't waterproof too

It got quite dark already and i picked a Frame out of the video so the quality of the `photo` is quite bad.

I would really like to test the difference for return to home with and without the landingpad but with that little light that would have not been meaningful...

What do you think?

I made one that was in 4 parts and laces together with strong so that it fits in my combats pocket,  but since found that hand launching and catching is the way to go.

Yea, but i think if weight and size doesn't matter i really like a landing pad because of the injury risk Ik if done right its really really unlikely but i don't need the risk if not needed.
In addition, I think that strangers also assess the situation better if you know what I mean. Idk how to explain that in english...
But if weight an size matters im not even thinking about taking a/that pad with me (mountain hiking trips for example)

You have more risk taking off in wind from a matt than hand launching.  also here people are quite impressed when they see you hand catch,  I was actually complimented on it this morning.

yea i agree on that. If its really windy i usually do not fly if not needed. Little wind isnt a problem.
I do also agree on the second thing. But impressed isn't equal to awarness. If there's a matt there is a "space only for the drone" and nobody gets too close because of curiosity or something like that.

Nice DIY.  I have a commercially purchased landing pad but since I live on a large boat I've just become accustomed to hand launching and catching.  That's really the best way to go for me, especially if I want to keep debris out of the drone's motors.

You get used to it with a little practice.
