DJI Support,
I heard from an extremely reliable source (Dave Paulides) that the DJI drone motherboards will (fry) themselves after 6 months of inactivity. Is this really true? This was told to him by a certified DJI technician in Denver, CO. when he took his mid-level drone in to find out why it wouldn't start. Dave is a very well-known filmmaker and used it once and then stored it back in its box until he needed it again. The technician asked when was the last time he used the drone. Dave of course said about 7 months or so. The technician told him that was the problem and specified, if you don't use these over a 6 month period, there is a function inside the motherboard that will (fry it) and that it would need a new motherboard which at that time was about 75% of the cost of a new drone.
You can watch and listen to his dis-satisfaction remarks on his video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q2Wp-xigoI&t=1712s at markers 28:28 to 30:21
I think all DJI drone users deserve to know if this is indeed currently the case, or was the case at one time but is no longer.
I look forward to your response.
