It looks like almost 30 thousand people have looked for this feature, judging by the views, and the thread has been open since 2023.
Seems enough time for DJI to review. I'd assume an update is not coming. Very disappointing, what is a fairly common feature has been missed from this unit.
Would be interesting to know why, given the hardware easily has the capability for this in open spaces.

Don't expect much. They won't implement it. Also like sharpness settings, different color profile D-cinelike like mini 3 pro and many others. It's just that apparently that's their instructions... they'll look into it, notify the developers, etc. but so far there is NOT ONE thing they have improved after querying the forum. At least as far as this model is concerned, which is clearly not attractive for development.

It is sad news. I think that active tracking is the most important feature of a drone that DJI misses on the DJI Mini 3, and I feel so disappointed with DJI's decision to not add this feature.

well, they already launch newer version of DJI...so the chance are getting smaller each days

This is very disappointing. You should have a firmware upgrade for this.

It feels like a waste of money.

I am traveling with my motorcycle, bought it online in Cambodia, now I am in Armenia, later in Turkey and beyond, and my drone is good for taking pictures.

You sabotage yourself by limiting your products. Why would it not be able to track?

I understand the Pro version has HARDWARE differences and sensors that make it better.

But, tracking can be implemented by Image Digital Processing. It can be done by SOFTWARE, even if it is not as good as with better HARDWARE.

I am very annoyed and disappointed.

A friend introduced me to a third-party app that activates the features missing in the Mini 3. I want to ask DJI personnel if this app is safe to use.

This thread was so disappointing to read. Even more disappointing than finding out my Mini 3 (which di not come cheap at all) doesn't have the option to follow objects around. And to top it all, I actually found out that external software developers offer this option for the Mini 3, but DJI don't offer it. Waw, just WAW!!

After reading this thread I see DJI doesn't care at all to provide quality service and put things right. Just generic answers "thanks for your feedback, we are looking into it" - the kind of answers you usually get from chatbots. And after this thread has 45 000 views too!!

Big thumbs down on my side DJI. I really am considering to contact my supplier for a refund at this poiint.

My understanding is the mini 3 will not get tracking do to no optical avoidance?

I’ve seen it mentioned that a drones capability for safety is taken into account on new features - ie ability to ‘Follow me’, yet the new cheap DJI Neo can ‘Follow Me’

I’m still waiting

I think this wont happen for mini 3.
