I've given up expecting DJI to make the Air 2 compliant.
Don't really want to risk a firmware update anyway.
Getting impatient waiting for the affordable modules the FAA promised.
The only one I can find is $300!
That's BS.  I can buy a compliant drone for not much more than that!

Before that, the FAA RID regulation does not affect the user’s flight activity. After September 16, 2023, please purchase the third-party RID module that is compliant to RID MOC and attach the module to the drone.

Yes.  You should complain to the FAA for expecting older drones to have features they weren't designed for.

Yes, I know that. That is my complaint.
$300 for the module!
I cannot even renew my drone registration now because I don’t have a remote ID module serial number.

Do you mean the Remote ID SERIAL NUMBER for Part 107 or Recreational Flyer registration?

Yes. I fly Recreationally, but have a Part 107 just in case.

Don't even think about it until July or August. There should be many more, less expensive models on the market by then.

Same here.  Sure hoping my Air 2 doesn't become a parts bird for my Air 2S.  I have read where a few other companies are working on cheaper remote ID modules but several are waiting for FCC approval.  

Actually, I don't want a firmware update.  They have proven to be too buggy, and would broadcast my location.  I prefer to go with a module, which will only broadcast the drone's location.

DroneTag now has the Beacon, in addition to the Mini.  Half the weight and size, and $100 cheaper.  

Still no modules under $200. The FAA lied when it said they would be affordable. I wonder if they will have to postpone the effective date.

The FAA should postpone since MA2 firmware won't be updated by the compliance deadline and all modules are out of stock, so there is no way to comply.

I believe it is 50/50 that they would postpone and I only believe that because of the events from last year; not because of the market price of the broadcast modules they have no control over.

I dunno, I don't think a broadcast module which only broadcasts the drone's positon (and not the takeoff position or the operator location) will be compliant.
