For the EU: you have to register as a pilot, you need insurance for that. That Pilotnumber that you get you need to stick to the drone. For drones heavier than 250 g you need the "small" license which is 75 % of 40 multiple choice questions and even then you have to be 150 m from uninvolved people/areas where people live, work etc. If you get the "big" license it's "only 50 m. So definitely bring the Mini 2. I never bothered to get a gimbal drone weighing more than 250g. The registration is good for 5 years and valid in all of the EU regardless of where you are registered. No cost.Insurance is about 3 Euros/month or 40 to 80 Euros per year depending on what you want.
In the UK it's similar: you need to register yourself, pass a (simple) test if you want to fly bigger than 250g and you get IDs that you have to stick to your drone... Some tests and/or payments (9 GBP per year I think) you have to repeat every year. I really can't remember but I get a helpful mail in advance. Don't know about insurance.
Thank you for the info. How much of all of that applies to under 250g (mini 3 pro), I'll be in Europe too, do I need that registration number slapped on the drone, insurance ? Or that applies to heavier drones only ? |
