Hi,

I've just received my new mini 3 pro.
I've opened the box :  I've seen few scratches on the drone and the remote !
My problem is : I already have had this kind of defects for 5 times yet, not really acceptable for this value drone (1000 euros here).

My reseller has exchanged the drone 4 times before but always problems : marks or scratches on the drone or the lens, on the remote and even dust inside the lens for the 4th.
For the drone with dust in lens, I have decided to contact DJI directly because it is a manufacturing defect (or refurbished ?).

DJI has exchnaged it in one week. I have get it yesterday and again scratches on drone and remote !

How we can have scratches on a new unboxing product ?
Two solutions : there was a very poor quality control or they are refurbished drone.


I take care a lot of my equipment.
I'm not sure to keep it again but I have no guarantee with a replacement by a new unit without any scratches if DJI accepts.

What DJI can do for me to get a real new unit without any scratches ?
To remember, I bought my mini 3 pro the 12th march, we are the 26th april.

Hi Sebas76, we are sorry for the negative experience. I understand your feeling as you have exchanged the drone 5 times.
However, as per the pictures you uploaded, please allow me to clarify that these traces may be generated during transportation. Could you please try to wipe the marks with tissue to see if they can be removed? The marks will not affect the usage of the product. We are sorry that this is not a manufacturer issue, replacing the drone may not be able to solve the issue completely. Hope for your kind understanding.

Hi Susan,

I'm sorry to hear that but this isn't molding traces, they are really scratches because they affect surface.
The props can make this during delivery because not protection between the drone and the props but for others ? particularly on remote...
And as I get 5 different drones, i can confirm that one has nothing on the remote, very little on the drone but it has dust on lens. Other have different problems : mark on lens, on display screen, impact,dent... I can give you the pictures if you want... you will be very surprised by quality problem on all of them ! All were new product !
I know that it doesn't affect aircraft performance but for a premium aircraft, it isn't acceptable unfortunately.
It is not a simple toy, it cost 1000 euros here. It is the most expensive aircraft I have bought.
I'm an aeromodelist for 20 years now, and I have a lot of model without this kind of defect at delivery.
So hope to have a "good" model soon from DJI.

Sorry for the unpleasant experience and the confusion caused, I just double-check, could you please try to wipe the marks with a soft cotton pad and see if they can be removed?

No, they can't be removed,  they are scratches !
Of course, I have tried to clean up the plastic with very soft cotton.

I really confirm that they can't be wipe off. On photo it is less visible that in real world, it is worst.

I doubt that it will affect the drone in any way, and I own so many that scratches come with the territory it just sucks that out of the box there are minor defects.

Yes of course it won't affect the drone in any way but when you buy a new "premium" drone, the minimum is to get it without any scratches out of the box.
But for DJI, it wasn't the case with any model I get.
Are they new or refurbished ?

Thank you for your support. My case  number is CAS-12515648-T0L4S7. I have received my new replacement drone on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. I have contacted DJI by chat and in this forum immediately.
I hope your return as quick as possible, of course haven't actived and used this drone.
I hope to have a new "preimum" replacement next week because I need my drone for my job in mid of may.

Yes I think so unfortenately.... And there are other scratches on the drone of course.
The new drone box was opened by DJI technician  to check it before shipping and he has replaced it in the box  reversed so that props were compressed during shipping and probably deformed too !!! Great for flying... I'm a pilot from 20 years so I know how perfect props are essential to fly well.
If I keep it, I hope to get a biģ compensation from DJI like new props and battery for example.
On chat, they say me it's normal to have cosmetic defect.

Maybe very little scratches could be there but in this case,  few are not little scratches particularly on battery like an used battery.
And on photos, there are less visible than in reality !

I do get those scratches when removing the batteries and the shell considering those are plastics, maybe we have to set ourselves for free just saying.
