I can totally see why.

She was totally freaking out because her husband had just replaced her original rings with a new set which was much more expensive and she had been down on her hands and knees looking for over an hour for them.  Just happens my daughter called her at that time and she was crying so the SOS went out for me and my metal detector.  My daughter knows I've previously found rings, watches, glasses, coins, etc at the beach and other places so she was really hoping I could help.

The right tool for the job!

It was an expensive toy but with all the finds I had when I used it regularly it paid for itself.  Nowadays, it gets used rarely, which is a shame.  I do have one that is 100% waterproof that I've used while scuba diving on old ship wrecks.

Yes there is.  I once found an old Spanish coin on the beach after a storm.  I think the storm churned up the sand in the ocean and then the force of the water brought it to the beach.  It was down about 2 inches so it had been there for a while I guess.
