Under a cloud.....

After three days where we were under a yellow warning for thunderstorms it seemed like the perfect afternoon to capture some clouds.

Magnificent capture DA.    It's almost as if you staged that puffy cloud right over the castle.

Thats what had drawn me in for the shot,   I had flown a little over the river looking for boating action and found none,   but then saw that cloud appearing and quickly swapped the batteries for a bit more air time.   No wonder the old mileage is racking up.

Yep, your feet flown is steadily climbing.  You definitely too advantage of the opportunity to get that amazing shot.

Probably a couple of time a week,   Im not big on syncing,  its slow and I tend to forget about it and then I have to charge the controller as its eaten half the battery.

I hear you on that.  I sync my data to my 22 TB drive but not to DJI.  Hence, why my feet flown never increases.  I have a reminder set to sync twice a month.

I offload the cards to the laptop,   then the laptop copy gets copied to a server and then twice a month thats backed up to a NAS,  then once a month a copy of everything goes off site.   Only after the offsite copy exists do the memory cards get cleared, and even then I tend to rotate them so I can get back many months from the original.


Which reminds me I have to check the date on the echium shots I took in 2021, as SHMBOd and I are in disagreement when we need to go back and see if it's growing again.

That was supposed to be a thunderstorm,  we had a yellow alert for it for three days but nothing came.

Yes - you could imagine it being a steam jet emanating from the castle (as a chimney) at that angle

Thursday was mostly OK for us. I've posted a shot from our first stop-off destination.

Most of it is automated and I use a tool called sync back to work out only the new/changed files that need to be copied.    I call it a dirty incremental as I dont as a rule delete everything on the backup and start again.  So previously deleted or moved files that are backed up stay in the back until the day I restart the process.  Usually with an incremental backup,  you would do a full backup at the weekend,  then daily incrementals until the following weekend where you'd start again

I spent yesterday morning playing catchup.  It's amazing how much accumulates in 4 days

Very nice that you were able to automate it as much as you did.  Nothing worse than losing data so always great to have a viable back-up process in place.
