I've got one video that's achieved 30,000 views, and a few in the several thousands, but the rest get little viewing time.

Yeah, same here.
Just a lot more views with one video.
But the rest is living a very slow life, only gathering 200 views max.
So that feels not worth the effort. But maybe that is what they are trying to do.
Less small channels. More big channels.

True, the view will be totally different if it is a 3 story building.  I suppose when land becomes scarce the only thing to do is start building upward.  No doubt we will see many taller buildings in the future.
