Yes, that amazes me.
So much good material.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Re-purposing the material will help the environment in the long run also.

True, the view will be totally different if it is a 3 story building.  I suppose when land becomes scarce the only thing to do is start building upward.  No doubt we will see many taller buildings in the future.

It's all about revenue.
More houses = more money.
Less ground = less money.
You do the math

So true.  Just a shame it always has to be about the money, but alas I do get it.

Here in the US we still have a long way to go in enhancing the repurposing of tons of building materials.  With any luck that learning curve will quit being so steep.

As long as material is cheap, it won't happen.

Wow. Amazing.
Never gonna get to that point.
But I also got a nice flight this morning.
Still have to process 2, so it will take some time.
Working on a website in the evenings.
Someone asked me to help set it up

That's a valid point and most probably why we aren't doing more repurposing.

Here there are laws that you have to separate I think up to 95% or something.,
So they have to at least do that .
And after that it becomes interesting (economically) to sell it again.
So yeah, that seems to work.

Sounds like a good law.  Recycling of construction material here is on a voluntary basis.  Not much encouragement to do it though.

No indeed.
But here they get very rich from it.
They have to pay money to get the demo contract.

Wow, what a difference.  Here the developer or owner has to pay a company to come in and do the demolition and haul everything off.

Quite a surprise this  morning for me.  As I was drinking my first cup of coffee and standing on the stern of my boat I noticed a beautiful, large eagle perched on a tree about 10 meters away.  I don't often see eagles at my location so that was a great start to the day.  Didn't get a picture of it as it was gone by the time I went and got my camera out.  I'm hoping I'll get the opportunity to see it again.

I used to have a nice Dewalt planer so I can attest to the noise it makes, also the amount of dust it can create.  It used to fill up my shop dust collection system super fast.

The planner isn't too bad,   but the thicknesser generates a lot of chips very fast and yes my workshop extractor will fill up fast.  But I sliced up all the boards to rough size, planned and thicknesses them and cut to final size,   Ive since glued and clamped up and whilst thats going off had a really good clean up.    I just need to round over the edges tomorrow with the palm router and then sand and spray varnish.

I kind of miss doing wood work.  I don't miss the glue ups and then having to clean up the blades later after cutting them to a precise size.

I found this on Google.  https://www.fdotstokes.com/2022/ ... in-the-netherlands/

“Flying door” is the bald eagle’s nickname. With its wingspan of up to 2.5 meters, that is not surprising. For a long time it was only a rare winter visitor in the Netherlands, but nowadays it even breeds in the Netherlands.

Any sort of clean up is a pain,     good news is that its all glued up and ready for a final 240 grit sanding,  then I'll clean up again,   sheet up the workshop and spray them in varnish with my 2mm spray gun.
