Well, Stamford was a stop en route.  And you did guess Burghley House, which was in the direction of Cambridge with respect to Stamford. So you were headed in the right direction

Sanded and cleaned,  workshop cleaned and sheeted and the first coat of varnish applied.   It goes on quick with my HVLP spray gun.  I just have to be careful not to apply too much in one coat.,
