I just got a mini 3 pro and I realize that the drone actually move a little forward when taking off. Is that normal?

It might be normal. Does your drone maintain it's position when hovering after the takeoff has completed?

Try doing a google, I seem to remember something about this.
That said, when hand launching a Mavic Mini or mini 2 I often see some initial horizontal drift, quote often they then slowly move back towards the take off point. You just have to make sure there is room to accommodate any such driftt or be ready to counter act it with GENTLE joystick input.

I am not sure. But does this got to do with Calibration of IMU and Compass?
I have a Mini 2 as well. But it doesn't have this issue...

Could it be also because the size of Mini 3 pro is larger in size that causes this?

I am trying to list down all possible cause

Mine does move forward, but not by much.. I would say maybe 5-10cm forward. It also depends on how level and windy it is when you take off.

After re-calibrating the IMU and compass, I felt the same. Still the drone move forward. Like before not much thou, about half a drone length?

You probably took off without waiting for the GPS satellites to pick up.

The satellite was locked at 30. So shouldn’t be a problem

Let's try again. What is your concern? That the drone may be faulty?

We are dealing with 4 rotors controlled by a chip that need to do complex calculation based on the data that receives from the other chips to hover in one spot... Try that yourself with a single rotor helicopter without any aids and see how easy you can manage that.. You need to allow for some small adjustments for the few milliseconds that it takes the CPU to work out what it is happening...

If your drone is stable AFTER TAKE OFF, your drone is fine.. If it keeps moving around in no wind and with full GPS signal, then you may have a problem...

Hi, fans78860db9. Thank you for patiently waiting. We now received feedback from our relevant team. Please check the following:

1. Please confirm if you have replaced the propellers. If yes, then it is possible that the arms were slightly deformed when the propellers were replaced, so the propellers' surface (rotating surface) is uneven.

2. The issue may be also caused by loose propeller screws. Safely land the aircraft immediately and check carefully to see if the propeller screws are tightened properly.

If not, then tighten the screws properly. Make the aircraft take off and hover for 30 seconds, then make the aircraft take off another time to see if the issue has been solved.

1. I have not replaced the propeller before. The propellers was originally from the drone when I unboxed it.

2. I will try to tighten the screws on the propeller to see if it is loosen during the flight. But so far I only did about 5 flights.

Anyway, once I try it on your second suggestions, I will revert back here.

Just for your info. I did seen a video before I. YouTube. One of the video also had similar take off… let me post it up here.

Try using the automated take off by pressing the button on the screen then record a video, don't use the sticks at all.
Does it still do forward moment?
How are wind condition when you fly drone?

Yes, I use automated take off and no or low wind condition.

My mini 3 pro jumps forward 2 or 3 inches when it takes off, no wind, flat ground. Interested in any thoughts or suggestions on how to cure this? Do not have this behavior with my mini 2.

I'm sorry this doesn't have to do with this thread and I'm sorry but earlier I was flying mine and I saw another blue arrow like mine approach mine way faster than I could and th3n like morph into mine and then started flying all crazy like wtf was that.
