Having trouble with transmission

With a small hill and tree in the way, it won't fly over these (and disappear behind) for much more than 1-200 yds from the RC controller

Is there a separate antenna or setting I can adjust to make it fly further ?
Settings say it can fly a few thousand metres.....

Thanks

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out, and we're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. The radio signal will attenuate during airborne transmission. A common roadside camphor tree crown can attenuate the signal by about half the image transmission distance. Dense trees or a reinforced concrete wall can attenuate the signal by about 1/32 of the image transmission distance. Hence, please check the surrounding flight environment to eliminate signal attenuation due to blockage as much as possible. As for separate antennas, there is currently none officially released by DJI. Alternatively, we hope you can get helpful suggestions from your co-pilots here.
Here are some recommendations that can improve the signal-receiving quality:
1. It is recommended to fly your aircraft in an open area with less wireless interference.
2. Keep an eye on the antennas during flight, and keep the antennas facing the position of the aircraft.
We appreciate your understanding and support.

The control range is dependant on multiple factors, including
a) EM interference at both ends of the signal path,
b) what lies in the line of sight between the antennae of the controller and the drone,
c) the accuracy with which you aim the controller's antennae at the drone.
To get the published maximum range or more everything needs to be 'perfect'. Trees are notorious for eating signal and drones and as for a hill, well I would have thought common sense would tell you that it is likely to interfere.
That said part of the legal requirements is that you can see the drone, that's 'rather' difficult when a tree or trees is/are in the way, ditto a hill.
Try flying where trees and hills do not get into the signal and line of sight path.

As with all radio waves, they pretty much stop at an obstacle, this is why TV and radio transmitter masts are very tall and why in certain areas you need a taller pole for your TV aerial (at least in the UK anyway).
For example, Emley Moor transmitter (UK) or double that height is the KVLY-TV Mast in North Dakota, US.

You need to have line of sight, when you have that and the alignment is spot on, this Min 3 Pro can outperform the Mini 2, 5.5km CE and some.....

Firstly, youre in the UK so youre stuck on CE unless you've sorted that out...
CE will max out the distance you can go safely with the standard battery and thats using the drone as standard, straight out of the box.

Secondly and it prob should have been 1st, that antenna, it is still using radio waves, you will still struggle if objects are in the line of sight, the only real way to get around that is to pray that DJI will bring out the dongle over here or at the very least, allow it to work in the UK, highly doubtful they will allow it to be sold though as it will take the drone over 250g, but thats a whole other another argument that falls on deaf ears

"Keep an eye on the antennas during flight, and keep the antennas facing the position of the aircraft."

The RC doesn't have any visible antennas !?

Yes, they are. Ensure that the RC is positioned as shown below:

We hope this clarifies your concern.
