Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an adapter for an external microphone and power what works at the same time so charging and microphone. Or is that even possible with the camera ?

A review that I read on this item at the B&H Photo web page says it does *not* work with the Action 3 camera.

Looking at the Action vs. Action 3, the USB connector is oriented 90 degrees different in the body of the camera.  That certainly can't help with affixing the adapter in the camera.

with osmo action or osmo action 3 you have a ready mic minimum 4h standby?

So, there was a design choice with the OA3 camera to not implement the  USB-C Audio Adapter Accessory Mode?

Hopeless when used on a crash helmet at over 30kph.  Very disappointed.

I have tested a lot of adapters, some of them do not work, most of them behave in a way that loading is always preferred. This means that an external microphone via splitter works until I connect the charging cable to the splitter, then the OSMO Action 3 switches off the microphone and then switches to charging. When I remove the charging cable from the splitter again, it takes a few seconds and the external microphone is switched on again.

It would be more than nice if DJI corrected this on the software side and made it available for all products as standard. Preferably PD, data & video at the same time like almost every USB-C connection on.

I will guess it is hardware related with some kind of protection.

This is another real issue they ought to have improved in the Action 4 - but I won't hold my breath as most likely you will have to buy some special adapter at an inflated price.
If they wanted to help users any adapter should come with it - the real cost is probably about $2

Thanks for the validation for the rest of us that this is a non-starter.

Wager on whether or not the Action 4 has the same limitations to the regulars here?

This is terrible.
So we can record continuously only for the length of one battery??
Is it an action camera??...
This is requirement 5 in a list of action camera architecture requirements...
Sometimes I feel like the product manager thought these camera will be used only in a kid birthday party on the backyard...
Come on DJI. Don't become GoPro!!!
Be the one company that took the action video seriously.

The Belkin USB-C Audio + Charge Adapter I purchased from Big A didn't have microphone functionality on my OA3 (using TRS lav mic...) but it did on an OA4.

the OA4 is getting an external mic and pass over  adapter  ask DJ if that is going to work for the OA3 they are releasing it real soon

Can someone from DJI please confirm so that people with a lower budget can still purchase the Action 3

Thanks for sharing. My use cases include charging and using a mic at the same time. Also, I'm unsure what you mean by OA3 doesn't need an adapter. A 3.5 mm mic always needs an adapter.

you can try a cheap uspc trrs (samsung) adapter
or use a usbc mic.you dont need the expensive dji splitter for the OA3
dont use the Rhøde lav mic with the OA3
