Watching the tide roll away.....


An early high tide today,  around 4am,   Emmz was already out on a fishing day trip and the last of the tide was rolliing rapidly away.   I nice flight with no birds to spoil the occassion.

In a couple of days the tide should be at a nice time for people playing with their boats so I hope to be able to use a few batteries chasing the jet skis.

It was 07h20 before I opened an eye this morning. Great flying weather but other commitments first.

I was out at 6am and the wind was bitter,   and not a lot going on either.

Sounds like you have a good plan in mind.  Hopefully, the boaters and jet skiers accommodate you.

Went dont for high tide this morning at 5:30am and thought Id get some boats going out for a long weekend,   sadly nothing occurring but a cold breeze.     Then I got caught nattering with the moorings owner for way too long.

O Sorry,   I did wonder when I typed that if you'd know what it was.   He was telling me about glass that needs to be replaced in canary warf area due to a phenomenon with nickel sulfide causing the glass to spontaneously fail.   He gets asked to weld up the frames after the glass is cut out.

That makes me feel quite jealous.      Ive spent the morning in the supermarkets and the afternoon cooking.   Sunny but a little breezy here,   If I can stay away I may try a sunset shot later.

From the conversations I have with him,   he's mostly retired from doing it and just takes the jobs he wants to do,  which is a nice place to be.   Hes also done some interesting jobs for the local military test facility where they test new weapon systems.

Sounds like he has had many interesting jobs over the years.  Nice to be in the financial situation where you can basically retire but only pick up odd jobs you are interested in to earn a little extra spending money or just to stay busy doing something you enjoy.

These shots are working really well DAF. Worth getting out of bed for.

To be fair he keeps himself very busy with maintenance of the moorings but mostly he does seem to do what pleases him.

It sure is.   I was hoping to bump into him today as I wanted to tell him what Id see by the flood defence where his moorings start,  on Saturday I walked that way in the afternoon even though I know the tide was out only to encounter a large group of people crawling around in the mud collecting shell fish.    At least there they cant get in trouble with the tides.     All I will say is they weren't locals.
