The landscape around the villages of Padfield (foreground) and Hadfield (beyond the railway line) has changed dramatically in the intervening years.
Only the row of cottages in the foreground is still recognisable. The railway no longer runs to the right up the Longdendale valley to Woodhead.
It is now a pedestrian leisure path. The railway terminates just out of shot to the left.

Hard to get a fix here. I think I see two rows of houses of both. The whole station gone?

Hi Depp. Yes, everything has changed. Just the row of cottages running vertically from the bottom of the picture are original.  And the main roads infrastructure, of course.
What were factory sites and railway property have been demolished, and housing estates built on the cleared land - some as recently as ten years ago.

Wow thats certainly changed,   but from the houses that are in both youve nailed the comparison.

I can tell.  Where did you find the old image?

Wow, what a comparison between the then and now.     As they say change is inevitable.  Great job of getting the alignment of the two shots so close Mr. B.

But the majority of the industrial factories have gone.

There's a hill behind the viewpoint, form which it may have been possible to reproduce the shot from a ground position, but its on private land. So the drone was the solution.

That is a nice comparison.
