Hi!

We are using multiple Mavic 3 Cine drones for multicam broadcast projects. This means we are capturing live feed from the drones to the OB van straight from the remote via HDMI out on the controller.

The issue is that drones feed out slightly different image (one is relatively OK, the other has crushed blacks).

Both drones are using exactly the same settings (both for the drone and for the camera) and are using the same latest firmware. They both have the same ND filter from DJI installed.

As it sort of seems the LUT (Display Color Assist function) is not the problem since all profiles without this function already show the issue. For example, the images were fairly the same when one drone was set to HGL and the other to D-LOG M with the Assist turned on.

Here are the two questions:
- is there a way to upload a custom LUT to the drone to be used in this case instead of the default Color Assist?
- is there a way to calibrate this sensor (or at least tweaks the blacks a bit)?

Many thanks!

No to both of those questions.

Hi, fans6d63b677. Thank you for reaching out. When DJI RC Pro firmware is updated to v03.01.0500 or later, HDMI pure camera view output is supported. (Namely, OSD information is hidden when using the HDMI output.) Camera View: only videos recorded or images captured are output, and there is no OSD information at all. There is no other solution to upload the custom LUT unless for post-editing. For the vision calibration, DJI Mavic 3 Consumer and Enterprise series aircraft do not support calibration using DJI Assistant 2. The calibration function is not available when the drone is connected to DJI Assistant 2. After long-term storage, the vision systems may need calibration. At this time, the DJI Fly app will issue a prompt and the aircraft will perform auto-calibration.

Hi,

this is not the issue. The issue is that two Mavic 3 Cine drones with exactly the same setup and settings and same firmware and filters are outputting different image through clean HDMI out with what is supposed to be the same color profile (e.g. HGL).

Is there a chance the issue would be in the sensor - let's say the two Mavics were built few months apart and DJI was supplied with slightly differently calibrated sensors? This would not be an issue in the postproduction at all but doing live event is a big deal.

Sorry for the late response. Can you please try to reset the connection and see if the issue persists? In addition, please have a test flight again and provide us with a short video showing the issue so we can check it further. Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Check if you have both drones in manual mode on same settings.
The best test you can do is to remove all ND filters and put the drones to capture same color board for calibration purposes, You need to use same NORMAL or LOG on both.
Also record on SD CARD from both.
It will give you instantly the results and if the sensors are not OK in color calibration.
Also the recording from card at both drones you need to import it in Premiere or Resolve and overlap the Histogram of both...if is not identical, is clear that Color science from them is messed up.
Do not use HLG and LOG sepparated, as you should know that both have different boost in different part of histogram, so you will get crushed blacks on HLG on same setting as the other drone with LOG...or at least this should happen, as the curve for HLG is from normal shadows to boosted highlights (non linear), while the histo curve from LOG is linear boosted (both shadows and highs).

Cheers.
