Congrats Peter on getting the Mini 3 Pro and at a discount makes it even a better buy.  

I was telling DA that my grandson was ready to move up from the Mini 3 Pro so I ordered him the Air 3.  He has several school projects coming up this year where he will be able to use the Air 3 over the Mini 3 Pro so turned out to be a good time to upgrade him.  He is going to pass the Mini 3 Pro to one of the cousins.

Wow, yeah, I thought about the A3 too, but that was out of my league for now.
Maybe after I'm done with the Mi3P

No rush, just keep it in the archives and process it on a day when the weather is bad and you have little else to do.  I know, that rarely happens.

I demonstratively set up a moving box in the living room, so all the members are fully aware of what is coming.

Almost everything is packed indeed.
They all joined, so I'm not complaining.
Tomorrow is mainly furniture demolishing day and move some big pieces so we can make a 'living kitchen' where we will be somewhat comfortable the next 3 months.

Wow, I guess with everybody chipping in the event got completed quickly.  So I'm guessing you tentatively plan to complete the project within 3 months.  I'm sure the temporary "living kitchen" will work out satisfactorily.

Yes. Some hard deadlines make me push harder.
I'm sure it will work. Not always how we want it, but we also have upstairs still.

Well no doubt you'll be able to adapt and overcome as the situation dictates.  Nice that you don't have to move out of your house completely during the reno.

I totally agree. And that is a benefit of not doing it all at once.
Alongside with being able to save and then spend, because it's not an impossible amount that would take forever to accumulate (for us at least)

I'm guessing a phased reno is much easier to manage than a whole house one.

Neither was mine 6 years ago.
Learning all the time.

I have started removing the fake ceiling in the livingroom. About 2/3 now. So far, the beams that were hidden look good enough to be visible later. Which I really like.

Sounds like a really nice start to the project.  I really like the look of exposed ceiling beams.

Absolutely.
Plus the added height is nice, especially since the fake ceiling was too low and even passed the upper part of the window frame.

Sounds like that turned out really well then.  The only drawback might be that you'll have more space above that will need to be heated but probably will not make much difference in heating costs I wouldn't think.

With the added insulation I suspect it will still be a nice reduction in energy costs.
