The dry dock was empty......


Tyically this has had some lovely tall ships in it over the last few weeks, and the first time the weather was good it was empty.


Oh well theres always next time.

There were some lovely ships out yesterday when I visited Brightling sea but it was too windy to fly,  one of them had been one of those wrecks you see in the mud and after 50 years someone dug it up and restored it.   But SHMBOd did have some chips and this was the view why we ate.

I stopped yesterday for another go at high tide and it was still empty.  But I did spot some action at the flour mill.

It was quite fun as there was a lot of boats coming and going too,    and you can tell some of them go out a lot the way they handle the boat.

I headed out at 5:45am this morning without coffee as the machine ran out of beans.  Lots to do again today.    Hopefully soon I'll get ahead again.

I know exactly what you are describing.  On my last trip to a restaurant near the marina I watched several boats coming and going.  One was really comical as he had no idea how to bring his boat pierside.  He kept edging forward and then gunning the engine in reverse.  Finally, a couple of people on the dock told him to throw them a rope and they'd pull his boat in.  That didn't work so well as the boat was way to heavy for them to get it pierside.  Lastly, an avid boatsman came to his aid and put it pierside for him.  Sure wish I'd had my camera with me.  What a comedy of errors.  Turns out it was a rental boat and it was the renter's first time piloting the boat.
