Are there any plans to enable remote ID on the original Mavic Air by September 2023, or will I need to purchase an external module?

Hello, there. Thank you for your feedback. According to the FAR Part 89 Remote ID regulations, the RID compliance for American users starts from September 16, 2023. Before that, the FAA RID regulation does not affect the user’s flight activity. After September 16, 2023, please purchase a third-party RID module that complies with RID MOC and add it to the aircraft.

I've been told that there will be a firmware update to be released on 9/16 and no later than 9/30.  Can you confirm that a firmware update will happen?

Today is Oct 10, 2023, and I checked this link, and the Original Mavic Air isn't listed.  What is it's status?

If it ain't on this list, you must but a RID module.

Hello, there. Sorry for the late response. The announcement is for all the consumer series drones.
All DJI drones manufactured after September 16, 2022, such as Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 3 Classic, Inspire 3, and DJI Mini 3, all have built-in remote ID capabilities.
Multiple Models in the sheet will have firmware updates later to be compliant with FAA RID.
Other older drone models cannot receive firmware updates for remote ID due to hardware compatibility limitations, we encourage the owners of unsupported drone models to consider purchasing a separate broadcast module to ensure compliance with remote ID regulations.
