if I want to fly Freestyle i push the 6s on the Nazgul and go.
If anyone was in the FPV world and purchased the AVATA believing they were going to do flippy flop stuff and fly upside down etc then they were seriously deluded... that being said everyone seems to have not seen mr steele fly the thing so maybe it is down to some pilots and their skills
Steele shows that the Avata can do a lot of freestyle, but it does have serious limitations. With mine at least, I cannot do a segmented roll without it flipping to N mode on the second half of a 2-point roll. This is the maneuver I found to repeatedly demonstrate the M to N switch that also happens unexpectedly doing various freestyle maneuvers.
After the switch, you must manually switch back to M mode (moving the left stick until it is centered on the green--the right stick is centered on the green by default).
I was surprised to find this thread after many weeks of going round with DJI support on this. I even burned a care refresh replacement on this (and another issue), because I thought it was a problem with the drone.
Surprisingly, the support team was not able to tell me that this was a "feature" until it was finally escalated to the support manager. I have requested that this "safety feature" be made configurable, or removed if they cannot get it to work when it should, and not when it shouldn't.
The support team even had me send them the replacement drone and my controller, then charged me to "fix" the controller, which I had never dropped or mishandled, and of course this did not fix this problem or the other one.
For the record, the other problem with my Avata is that it tilts to the left or right when in N or S modes. Apparently it tilts into the wind--even the gentlest of breezes, so it basically is always tilted, which makes using it for decent videos in N or S modes impossible.
With these two problems, I'm not really sure what the Avata is really good for.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Avata crashed in a really weird way the other day, and this is exactly when I would have expected this "safety feature" to have kicked in, but it did not. I was in the middle of some fairly normal pull out of a roll or flip, when suddenly it just went crazy and crashed. If I run across the video of that when reviewing my videos again I'll post it. It happened fast, so hard to figure out what happened. I usually can figure out what I did wrong if I do something wrong when I crash, when reviewing the video, but on this one, I was just left scratching my head.
