if I want to fly Freestyle i push the 6s on the Nazgul and go.

If anyone was in the FPV world and purchased the AVATA believing they were going to do flippy flop stuff and fly upside down etc then they were seriously deluded... that being said everyone seems to have not seen mr steele fly the thing so maybe it is down to some pilots and their skills

Steele shows that the Avata can do a lot of freestyle, but it does have serious limitations. With mine at least, I cannot do a segmented roll without it flipping to N mode on the second half of a 2-point roll. This is the maneuver I found to repeatedly demonstrate the M to N switch that also happens unexpectedly doing various freestyle maneuvers.

After the switch, you must manually switch back to M mode (moving the left stick until it is centered on the green--the right stick is centered on the green by default).

I was surprised to find this thread after many weeks of going round with DJI support on this. I even burned a care refresh replacement on this (and another issue), because I thought it was a problem with the drone.

Surprisingly, the support team was not able to tell me that this was a "feature" until it was finally escalated to the support manager. I have requested that this "safety feature" be made configurable, or removed if they cannot get it to work when it should, and not when it shouldn't.

The support team even had me send them the replacement drone and my controller, then charged me to "fix" the controller, which I had never dropped or mishandled, and of course this did not fix this problem or the other one.

For the record, the other problem with my Avata is that it tilts to the left or right when in N or S modes. Apparently it tilts into the wind--even the gentlest of breezes, so it basically is always tilted, which makes using it for decent videos in N or S modes impossible.

With these two problems, I'm not really sure what the Avata is really good for.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Avata crashed in a really weird way the other day, and this is exactly when I would have expected this "safety feature" to have kicked in, but it did not. I was in the middle of some fairly normal pull out of a roll or flip, when suddenly it just went crazy and crashed. If I run across the video of that when reviewing my videos again I'll post it. It happened fast, so hard to figure out what happened. I usually can figure out what I did wrong if I do something wrong when I crash, when reviewing the video, but on this one, I was just left scratching my head.

Its really good at nothing. Like you sayed the n/s records are super crappy because of the tilt and in m Mode you constantly babysit the Drone trying not to crash because of the yaw problems and the flyaway stuff.

If they deactivate it you will find yourself Most likely flying on the head its DJIs try to hide this major flaw because they don't can or want to fix this.

Was pushing my cinelog today to the Limits trying to freestyle and what should I say you can do razor Sharp yaw Spins Lookbacks and split-s with ease, its Just the propwash and speed that let you know its still a whoop. And before someone comes around the corner I know its not Made for this and regular I only use it for cinematic stuff and Indoor flights but my freestyle copter was Out for today and I Just wanted to mess around what worked surprisingly very well, wouldve crashed 30 times today with the avata.

Edit: was Most likely yaw tumble what you experienced.

I have a flight start error. So the propellers will blow hard and then abrupt stopped. Over and over again. Someone knows what the problem can be?

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. DJI Avata has a built-in propeller guard that may increase flight resistance, especially when flying sideways though it can improve product performance and flight safety. Thus, in a strong wind environment, if the drone turns around at high speeds, or takes a sudden brake when flying sideways at high speeds, the flight attitude may be abnormal. We recommend to fly the drone at a slower speed when making the drone turn around and brake under the scenario mentioned above.
After firmware v01.02.0000, it optimized this part:
Added ability to detect abnormal attitude and brake automatically when the aircraft turns sharply at high speed with an altitude of more than 5 m in Manual mode. So it means the drone will brake if the aircraft turns sharply at high speed.

Thank you for giving me an automised message that's already widely known and probably in the instruction manual.
I don't even complain about it crashing.
You totally missed the point of what I tried to bring across.
If it crashes it just goes into an automised rage that won't stop until god had enough of the bad joke.
Let me learn how to fly this thing MANUAL goddamnit. I don't want ANY of your software to have it's fingers in it, when I fly MANUAL.
If I really want to go into normal mode, I flip the switch, so thank you.
But I also want to do dives and stuff and if your software then decides, "Oh he's about to crash, let's level out", then you're defeating the whole purpose of a manual drone.
Give us another update, where manual mode is TRUE MANUAL!
If I crash because of some cinewhoop type features or whatever so be it, I did not anticipate to not crash the drone. But let us learn how to manoeuvre this badly designed brick ourselfs and we're happy!
