It did appear to be holding its own.  No telling what type of engine he has onboard.  

Your guess could possibly be onto something. It sure is easy to understand from that shot why'd you thought so.

Some of them have a funny fold down propellor system.     I want to say they call them an "inboard outboard" but Im not sure.

Only seen it on the catamarans myself around here.    I guess it helps with the speed unsaid as there is less drag.

Yes it should help reduce drag.  Just one more thing to service though.

I wonder if during a failure you could jerry rig a line to the winch and wind it up that way.
