The features of the Air 3 impressing (O4, flight time, flight range, small tele) but (for me) are the biggest cons

• no RC Pro support (I love the good screen on sunny days, the performances and the possibility to install additional Apps)
• no Motion Controller suppor (give me plane feeling , a little bit like flying with stick in a plane, miss only the rudder pedals ;-)
• no Integra support (give me visual plane feeling)
• RC 2 works (curently) only in combination with the Air 3
  

I'm a fun pilot (with planes and drones) and create from time to time small videos for the company and customers. Thinking a short time about to to sell my M3C and buy a Air 3, but for the fun factor I will still stay on the M3C.....

Unless RC Pro compatibility comes about shortly, I will be buying a Mavic 3 Classic. The A3 IS attractive, but too much incompability.

You’re probably right, but the more older equipment you buy the less compatibility you will have in the future.

At the same time, buying a radio that only works with one drone, doesn't really inspire confidence in compatibility, and to buy a drone that doesn't work with anything already available, for most people, it won't happen either... You can speculate about the future, but at the moment, the facts are that DJI doesn't seem to know how to apply either logic or common sense to what they do...

From where I stand, and based on what I have witness so far, compatibility it is not a priority for DJI either... If we are honest, I think we can all agree, on the fact that DJI could do so much better on the compatibility side of things...

Plus, the RC Pro has everything necessary to be compatible with O4. The RC2 has everything to work with O2 - O4!! It's all firmware.

I wish the RC 2 allowed installed apps / SDK.  That would really add a lot of value to the Air 3 that is missing.

For as much as they charge for the fine RC Pro, I'm surprised it seems to have such a short compatibility list.

The same novelty of O4 probably keeps the goggles from being compatible.  But, DJI is not known for long support or great compatibility in any product line.   DJI FPV is riddled with incompatible parts, incompatible firmware (Vista on Googles v2), and so on.    An open SDK would go a long way to allowing others to fill these gaps.

I can understand the problem to update the RC Pro, MC and Integra to O4 because of the hardware limitations (e.g. concerning the missing 5.1 Ghz frequency band) but it should be not a big deal  to include (additionally) in newer drones also O3+ too....

So true.
Back compatibility should be made easy as Air 3 have all frequencies that is in O3...
So will not work in new freq.....fine....but make it work in the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz as compatible with all rest of controllers and goggles...
That would be a normal approach....

You’re right compatibility is not so high on djis agenda, but in time where possible compatibility came in future updates. This is not that much different with a lot of tech. Particularly with camera manufacturers updates are nearly always delayed for older cameras.

But there will also be a time when it won’t be possible because of brand new tech to make it backwards compatible to older hardware and then it maybe time to just move on.
I will say the new remote with air3 has an incredible strong signal flying low and high .

I have several helicopters that can all fly with the same Spektrum ix14 radio..

I have several RC cars that can be all controlled with the same Sanwa M17 radio...

That seems to be the trend in the RC world... I'm not sure what DJI is trying to do here....

If all my RC toys were DJI products, I would probably need to own 30 different radios... Good luck with that...

I suppose you have a point, but whether you buy dji autel skydio etc you’ll have the same problem, in fact dji is the best of a bad lot ;+)

Just wait this product is brand new. Wait for new firmware updates.

i think the motion controller and goggles will be compatible, but it’s likely you will never see apps on the RC.
