Ah yes. I have seen that one before.  

I just bought my first drone a few months ago at 59 years of age. I doubt I will ever have the journey you have had, but I am enjoying my “new” hobby immensely. Thanks for sharing.

Inspiring story. I havent moved to the # line yet. Loving the Air 2S and 2 Pro, but it seems like we are getting bettertechnology while giving up things like SDK, dual controllers, higher costs and more restrictions. It makes  it hard to make the switch. It also seems like with each choice you give up the versatiity that the older drones had. It makes it hard to upgrade.

That is probably why I kept all my old drones.  They have some nice features however the newer models also have great new features.  Like the mini 3 pro which is the only DJI drone that can shoot a complete 360 spherical panorama.

Very nice collection and experience.

I'm really new to the drone world. I bought a new to me Phantom 3 Advance. I met a fellow in a public place and upon my arrival, he lifted it up to about 6 feet and then landed it. So it works, I'm happy.
When I got home I charged all the batteries and installed DJI GO on my laptop. This is where everything has started going downhill.
When I power up the aircraft and the controller and open DJI GO the only option I receive is "learn how to connect" the phantom, not to actually connect.
I have found a lot of posts about this but no real solution.
I've tried several USB cables, uninstalled the app reinstalled the app but nothing gets me past the learn how to connect screen. I think the app isn't recognizing that there is a Phantom attached to it.
I'm using Apple devices.
Do you know of any third-party app that I  could fly my Phantom with?

It has been a few years since I have flown a Phantom 3.  It uses a large white transmitter to control it.  The transmitter has a bracket to attach either a phone or tablet.  The phone or tablet has to have the GO app installed on it.  I don't understand why you are using a laptop.
To check if the Tx is connecting to the drone do the following.
Power up the Tx, note in the lower center there are 5 LEDs.  The left one should be RED.
Power up the drone. In about 1 minute the left LED should turn GREEN.
If it does, it means the Tx is connected to the drone and means your problem is between the view device and the Tx.
You have stated that different USB cables were tried.  However, I once flew a P3Pro drone where the connection between the Tx and view device was via wifi.  (The default wifi pw was 12341234.)
Let me know if this info helps solve your problem.

Actually, I found out about my third place in the campaign the similar way, I had no idea they were published until I heard about it from another forum member.

Thanks very much, Ms Ivy.  You are right, I've spent a lot on these machines, not really an investment as they lose half their value in 6 to 9 months after purchasing them.  They are an investment in fun though.
