I recently purchased an Air 3 drone and putting it through its paces. This is my first DJI drone. Far better quality then my two previous drones. I still need to learn quit a bit considering all the new features not available in my other two drones. One of my old drones has a "follow-me" feature which i concluded after watching and reading many reviews of the Air 3 is that follow-me feature is the same as Active Track. I must say I am very disappointed in what the Air 3 active track will follow. My budget friendly drone would follow anything that i got it locked on to. I was hoping for the same with the Air 3. My plans would be to use the Air 3 Active Track footage for my farm business. Any suggestions to overcome how i can get Active Track to lock on and follow farm equipment such as tractors, combines, side-by-side vehicles.

Welcome! With DJI Active Track you are pretty much limited to cars, motorcycles, bicycles and boats. All signs point to this being a security precaution.

Actually is not...I have tried to track a tractor, guess what....was not recognized as a vehicle... Maybe can be improved a little...

It seems that DJI have intentionally crippled ActiveTrack. I don't know if that has anything to do with the use of their products in armed conflicts, but the hardware should certainly be capable of better tracking than lesser drones.

The identifying effects are not ideal when the identifying object is a two-wheeler, tricycle, or other unusual vehicle type. I would love it if we could actually track objects. It's just a software thing and that should be easy enough to shut off the vehicle, boat, person thing and make it track anything. I can do it with my Platinum and I love that drone for that reason.

Please pass this is along and IMO that would make the air 3 100% perfect.

I too, tried to track a tractor with no luck, and a bicycle too a long tiiime to get it to track, very random.
Have track my car with success though.  I agree it needs to be better.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. If you are referring to the DJI Fly, Yes, the aircraft must be connected to the remote controller with the DJI Fly app running to perform the ActiveTrack feature. Hope this helps.

I have noticed that the active track feature on the Air 3 works much worse than on my trusty old Air 2. I'm not sure why, maybe this is related to my settings or the fact I'm in the EU so C Mark applies, but still, disappointing to say the least...

When I select active track it does not give me the circle with the option to select back, front, etc.  Do I need to be video mode for this to work?
The opitons I get are trace, auto and parallel.

I agree… very disappointed with the Air 3 and its inability to track farming equipment with Active Track 360. I purchased the drone for the sole purpose of pictures/videos based around Agriculture.

Hello, new air 3 owner here.  when the manual refers to "vehicles" as a supported active track selection, I was wondering if This includes golf carts.  Can't get it to recognize my cart.

Hi there, thank you or reaching out. Kindly follow the steps below to ActiveTrack on your DJI Mini 4 Pro.
1. Drag a box around the target.
2. Enable “Subject Scanning”, the aircraft will automatically scan the target and a green "+" icon will be displayed on the screen. Tap the "+" icon to select the target.
3. After the subject is selected, three options including Follow, Spotlight, and Circle will be shown.
[Spotlight] The camera always points to the target and the drone does not fly actively until the user pushes the control sticks to make the drone fly.
[Circle] The aircraft flies around the target with the set radius, direction and speed. Users can choose to track static or dynamic objects with slow movement speed.
[Follow] The Follow mode is divided into the Trace and Parallel sub-modes, which can be switched by swiping left or right.


Trace: The aircraft can track subjects in eight directions including front, back, left, right, forward diagonal left, front diagonal right, backward diagonal left, and backward diagonal right.

The position of the drone relative to the subject is determined based on the subject's moving direction recognized by the flight controller.which is called “front”. The direction of tracking can be adjusted during tracking, and the aircraft will fly to the corresponding direction and track the subject.  

Parallel: The drone maintains a fixed angle relative to the subject's position, achieving side tracking along the way.

I own a drone services company and film videos for businesses in my area.  I currently have two clients who have ask me to film another drone in flight.  One is a large drone being used to pressure wash a tall structure and the other is a small DJI drone fitted with a spherical camera.  I have been surprised to discover, I can't track either of them!  I have spent thousands of dollars with DJI!  This is a simple fix for DJI and good customers deserve to have the active track be way more versatile!  Help!
