Am contemplating purchasing a Mini 3.  Intend to fly sub-250g only by using lighter batts exclusively, and recreational only.  Therefore the FAA does not require either registration or RID.  It appears, however that DJI will nevertheless impose RID on my flights.
Three questions: 1) what sense will the FAA make of my RID data when there is no underlying registration? 2) i tend to fly in very remote locations lacking cell phone coverage or any electronic equipment able to receive RID transmission--will this environment resuly in a RID error and my drone being prevented from taking off? 3) If I use a RC 231 controller with a smartphone for display and the smartphone has no SIM card, will I still be able to take off?  DJI please summarize necessary and sufficient conditions for Mini 3 RID "success" to enable takeoff and flight.
