That's a nice arrangement, however, I don't have the option of an additional carry-on. My carry on case for the Phantom and all the accessories does already have the batteries sitting in cutouts in foam made specifically for them like you have there, but they are not separated from the other equipment. I don't expect trouble traveling the way I am, in fact, I have already called the airline telling them exactly what I have and they could not find any regulations against it. I am just trying to protect myself from the TSA agent that's having a bad day and just wants to assert some authority. If he's seen a lipo bag and just happens to think it's good idea, he could hold me up and make me miss my flight, or just unilaterally decide that I can't go through without those batteries in Lipo Bags, and it would be far too late before I could get it sorted out. I donb't want to toss $450.00 worth of practically new batteries in the bin on the whim of one agitated TSA agent that wants to throw his or her weight around. I feel if I have a bag, and they get all uppity, I can put them in it, and figure out a way to fit them in my laptop case since they would no longer fit where they were designed to go in a bag.
I do not want to check the phantom. I want it in the cabin with me. I prefer to get to my destination with it in one piece, and my backpack/carry on package is not a hard case.
Also, I have my doubts that those bags would really do much to stop a fire if it were to occur, but I'm not doing this for my own piece of mind. I just want to have something there in case someone who doesn't know better, and has authority to do so, decides that I need them (correctly or not). |
