Are there any Lipo bags out there that are a good size for an individual P3 battery? If not, how about roughly the right size for 3 P3 batteries? I am traveling by plane with my P3 and want to have the bags in case it is required. The only problem is, that I have a backpack made for the P3 and accessories and every space in it is filled. If I can't keep my batteries in the holes carved out for them because they won't fit if they are in a bag, I'm not sure what to do with them.

I leave Wednesday, Sept. 9th, so any input or experiences you have had would be great to hear ASAP. I will need time to track down the right bags and get them delivered.

My goal is to not have to use them, but I don't want to have to sacrifice my batteries in order to go on the trip.

Thanks in advance!
Bob

I bought the DJI Hardshell Backpack for travel with my DJI3.  Awesome purchase and no problem whatsoever as a carry-on with my DJI3 controller, etc., and 4 batteries.

Same here, carried my P3 on as hand luggage with 3 batteries, no problems, didnt need lipo bags. If they said anything Id argue they are only the same a Laptop batteries and they dont have to be removed (I know they arent - but do they?)

If you look at the construction of a LiPo bag, do you really think that that bag is going to stop a fire created by a battery that burns at over 1500 F?

If you aren't able to have the Phantom fly as carry on baggage, pull the batteries and wrap the area around the contacts with electrical tape and hand carry those.

LiPo bags are sold to people that don't know any better.

If you were traveling with an Inspire 1 and had the TB48 battery, you'd be limited to two batteries due to capacity (over 100 watt hour) The P3 is good to go with hand carrying up to 6-8 batteries.

Print a copy of the PDF file and carry it with you for the uninformed TSA person.

That's a nice arrangement, however, I don't have the option of an additional carry-on. My carry on case for the Phantom and all the accessories does already have the batteries sitting in cutouts in foam made specifically for them like you have there, but they are not separated from the other equipment. I don't expect trouble traveling the way I am, in fact, I have already called the airline telling them exactly what I have and they could not find any regulations against it. I am just trying to protect myself from the TSA agent that's having a bad day and just wants to assert some authority. If he's seen a lipo bag and just happens to think it's  good idea, he could hold me up and make me miss my flight, or just unilaterally decide that I can't go through without those batteries in Lipo Bags, and it would be far too late before I could get it sorted out. I donb't want to toss $450.00 worth of practically new batteries in the bin on the whim of one agitated TSA agent that wants to throw his or her weight around. I feel if I have a bag, and they get all uppity, I can put them in it, and figure out a way to fit them in my laptop case since they would no longer fit where they were designed to go in a bag.

I do not want to check the phantom. I want it in the cabin with me. I prefer to get to my destination with it in one piece, and my backpack/carry on package is not a hard case.

Also, I have my doubts that those bags would really do much to stop a fire if it were to occur, but I'm not doing this for my own piece of mind. I just want to have something there in case someone who doesn't know better, and has authority to do so, decides that I need them (correctly or not).

Man.. every time I see the term "lipo bags" I immediately think of those bags doctors use to collect fat from liposuction procedure.   LOL

Understood. All valid concerns. You will be fine as you are. They have film crews that come through all the time loaded to the hilt with batteries. I recently was an acting set medic for a Discovery Channel production and it would blow your mind the amount of lipos they had as carry-on. I made it a point to ask them if they ever had any trouble and they said no. They just throw all of them in a backpack. The only thing TSA does is swab them for explosive residue. Don't lose any sleep, you will be fine.

Thank you. Feeling a bit better about it, but will bring the bags I ordered along anyway, since I have already made the purchase. I won't use them unless I have to.
