Yes, some app will restart even after restart the phone but NO one will drain the battery like the DJI Go app.

So my solution to this is to install shutapp and force close all background apps. After confirming a ...

I know how to force close the app. But what I mean is that even I force closed the app & restart the phone, the DJI Go app restart itself and drain the battery.
LG G4 has "smart card" which monitor the battery drainage all the time & will prompt the user to force close the app draining the battery.

The DJI GO app is very powerful and needs a lot of processing power to run. That's why some devices  ...

Come on, DJI! Don't be so lazy.

READ the complaints. Every one has been clearly typed.

The app is using immense battery power, in the background, even when it has not been used in weeks.

This is a huge problem that is leaving YOUR customers stranded around cities with dead phone batteries, and occurs in our everyday lives, NOT while we're flying the toy. Fix the app.

Frank,

Those IP addresses are not so much Google search and Amazon store, they are more likely Google and Amazon cloud services. DJI probably uses them as their cloud solution providers.

"If you look in your running apps you will see a lot of them start back up after closing. Close all of them then look again and they will restart."

This is not news to any of us. This is not related to ANY of our questions. We know apps run in the background, and we know they can restart themselves. We are not asking you about our other apps, we are asking you about the DJI app, which is behaving differently, and substantially worse than the others. We have traced the source of our unusual battery drain, and the answer is ONLY THE DJI APP is the problem.

Ken, are you trolling us on purpose? I'm being completely serious. It seems like you're deliberately acting like you don't understand in order to frustrate us. We want three things:

Read our posts, and try to understand your bug that we have clearly identified.
Fix the background battery drain bug in the app.
Tell us why your app is sending so much data to the cloud when it is not even being used.

"Tell us why your app is sending so much data to the cloud when it is not even being used."

It's actually not sending very much data to the 'cloud', if you watch my video in post #20 its a little technical, but basically the app is generating data searching for the drone and remote controller constantly at a very high rate. This 'data' or more specifically packets, don't go anywhere in the cloud. But because it sends the packet over your Cell Network it still counts against your data plan.

That being said, I can't believe this is still not fixed.

What it the use of searching for anything when the app is not active and the copter is sitting at home on the shelf (as most of the time)?
What is XGPushServices doing?
What about privacy?

Hi all,

I had the same issue but I might have the solution.
When I connected the drone to my phone via usb, it asks to atomaticaly open the DJI Go app when connecting to you remote, i did check the box.
Since then it used much more battry power.
So in the DJI process you can set back 'set back default values'.
After that the process still keeps running but does not use that much power.

Hope this helps for you too.

ps. I have a HTC One s mini 2

The app uses a tonne of power, regardless of your phone, or the condition of the battery inside. The weakest part of the chain is the battery technology in our devices.

I often need to fly 6-10 batteries for a job and my iPhone (pilots monitor on a Inspire) goes flat very quickly. I'm hoping that there are a bunch of smarter people than me out there that could come up with a way of attaching an external power supply (like one of those battery banks people use) to the usb cable running between the controller and the monitor. I am assuming that in the cable, the data line/s and the power and ground are separated, and if the controller is not supplying that power to the phone, then couldn't we "jack in" to that line and add the power, valve it with a diode, etc.
Thoughts?

This might shed some light on this topic: Drone-Maker DJI Willing to Share Data With China.

In that article:

'“We are constantly having communications with our government and related departments,” Zhang, whose title is PR Specialist, told reporters at DJI’s headquarters in Shenzhen. “We have made suggestions to regulators and given them our advice, and said that we’re willing to share our data.”

It is not YOUR data, it is OUR data. You should all be aware that the DJI app is sending data to various unidentified sites on a regular basis. The app is a particularly rude one and DJI are making use of your data for their own purposes. None of this has anything to do with actually flying your aircraft, because it is possible to fly without any internet connection at all. I do not permit my iPad Air 2 to connect to the internet at all, as I am not interested in maps or updates, and it has no effect on my flying. But it does mean the the Go App cannot communicate without my knowledge.

I would be interested to know whether Litchi 'shares' data like the DJI app does?
