Hi there!
The new version of Litchi Pilot is controlling the drone in "Joystick" mode. (Real waypoint implementation is under way.)
We observed a weird behaviour flying a waypoint mission in joystick mode using Litchi during night time. From waypoint 1 it will start and stops immediately.
It looks as the sensors are registering something and stop immediately. Then it will try to move again but suddenly stops again.

My qustion: Is there a way DJI Pilot 2 app uses "Joystick" mode as well in a certain flight mode?

Thanks a lot for your help!
-Bruno.

Hi, Bruno. Thank you for patiently waiting. Since the Litchi app is not a DJI software, our relevant team can't determine what you meant by the "joystick" mode. Please provide more detailed description information. However, if you use the DJI PILOT 2 APP, you may adjust "Remote Control Mode" in the remote control Settings, as shown in the screenshot below:

Hi Gamora!
Thanks for your feedback.
There are actually two modes a DJI drone can be used for executing waypoint flights:
  • WAYPOINT Mode (Supported by Mavic Pro/Platinum, Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro/Enterprise Avanced etc.)
The waypoint plan is uploaded to the drone and it's executed via the drone itself. No controller connection needed.
  • JOYSTICK Mode (Used in Mini and other drones, which do not have inbuilt support for executing waypoint flights)
The drone is constantly getting instructions from the app via the controller where to fly.

Right now, Litchi Pilot does not support WAYPOINT Mode yet. So the 3T is flown in Joystick mode. At the moment, there is an issue flying the drone at night. During daytime it's fine.

In order to prove this is a firmware issue within the drone, it would be great to have the possibility to fly the drone using JOYSTICK mode within DJIs Pilot 2 App.

Thanks for your help!

Hi, bholliger0014. Whether the DJI Pilot 2 app is opened or not, the UAV can be controlled directly by the remote control joystick. If we misunderstood your concern, please explain it to us in detail and please provide photos/videos for us to further check. Thank you.

Hi Gamora!

JOYSTICK flight mode means the waypoint mission is not executed on the drone itself. The app installed on the controller is continuesly sending instructions to the drone.
You can also see this as flight mode if you upload a log file to phantomhelp as an example.

Thanks and have a nice day!
-Bruno.

It's commonly referred to as Virtual Stick mode.

Just to let you know, DJI did fix this in the latest Firmware release. The behaviour is no longer seen, thanks for that!
